Default SotD Thursday 9th of October

Happy belated birthday xdattax! Man I'm so behind with the birthdays! Hope you had a wonderful, fragrant day.

Lizzie J, I found Vraie Blonde to be a scrubber too. Couldn't get it off fast enough!

Anyway, today I'm in Gucci Envy.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to the sick and stressed out. And everyone else of course!

I'll just post on the one with the most posts.

Too early here to think anyway.

Possets - Missouri today. A top of an orange creamsicle (natural orange, not the artificial stuff) with a hint of orange blossom. Morphs into a rose in the heart. Turns ambery on the dry down.

The official notes and my impressions are completely unrelated and from the comments on the Possets board, I'm getting something a bit different than most.

A significantly more analytical scent than Possets usual fare - lots of complexity here.

    Twolf's work of art.

There is even more embroidery on the right hand side of the pouch. To give an impression of the size: there is a 100 ml. bottle of AG Eau d'Hadrien
    inside on the second picture.

So, leaving the lavender fragrances behind me, I am now following my Brotha in
    Eau d'Hadrien
    On a scarf, again

Congratulations dear G, exactly 3000 posts at this moment!

A La Nuit, and plenty of it.

    Edit since I´m more awake.
I love A La Nuitm, this is the first time I use it because the bottle arrived. I had a small sample and as soon as I smelled it I knew I needed a full bottle and I´m so happy with it. It even turns the SO into a perfume critic explaining how it smells wet, with a solid base and the exotic is sprinkeld on so it isn´t overpowering. And I agree, it´s not overpowering but it has a presence, it´s light but not fleeting. For me ..I love it and when I sampled it was the first time I ever smelled something like it.

Twold, how long does it take you to make that? Are you going Etsy?

Good grief but Twolf is insanely talented. I am so impressed by that embroidery.

In Madame Rochas today because I'd forgotten to spritz while getting dressed and that's the bottle that's in the kitchen cupboard. Is that a snapshot of a life or what?

    Have a good day all

First Belated Happy Birthday to xdattax I hope it was an awesome day.
Second, twolf what an amazing gift the work and the love that goes into something like that is priceless.
Third, Lady R isn't this the greatest community? To find something like that in the mail out of the blue?
Fourth, Ken the loss of our four-legged companions is always a blow. I hope your companion goes easily. My thoughts are with you.

So glad it fits without giving you fits, Ms.R. Thanks for your kind words, all! The pattern is an AboutUs freebie by Sandi Marshall, who digitized it from the early 20th century filet (perhaps it used to be a curtain/ a table scarf), and Ms.R said she did not mind vines. Originally I planned to stitch it in gold on the burgundy colored linen, but the fabric was so difficult to work with which would inevitably result in the sloppy finish. We did not want any sloppiness. There were no dragon patterns in the needlework store that I frequent, all other Internet freebies were either too long or too colorful (gorgeous Theresa Wentzler) or positioned on the corner (Tante's Zolden) or too cutesy (many others) or too big (a few others). I do not have PayPal and I normally do not sell as I consider stitching just a skill, not art: in to the right, out to the left, all about it. However, I always look into the new ideas and if you have some, please PM me. It was my first bottle pouch although there were two pouches (one for odds and ends, and another one for storing cotton balls) before, this one "sits" on a round base reenforced by a piece of plastic. Beads were hard to find too -- I had to cut apart a little hair barette to get them. The stitching took about 12 hours, the finishing took about two and a half. Every single minute put into it turned out to be pure joy!

"Just a skill?" You're far too modest! The pouch is indeed exquisite and I wish I was half as skilled.

I took inspiration from early posters Lian and Ubu, and went with A la Nuit as well. I first tried this at the beginning of spring with some trepidation because I have trouble with jasmine. Wow! It's beautiful in the fall too! (Similar temperatures, admittedly). I never thought I want a big bottle of something full of jasmine, but this scent is pristine; perfect.

I fell in love with Datura Noir this summer during my mad testing trip to Harrods and it's been on my wishlist since (figured that a fragrance that made me "giggle with delight", as I think I reviewed it was definitely FBW). Today I was in London in a meeting all day, but on my way in, I dashed to Liberty's for a spray. THEN... at lunchtime the smell was so wonderful that I couldn't stop myself, I dashed right back and bought it. Whoo-hoo!

Xdattax and JaimeB, I hope our birthday month is wonderful for you, too!!! Are ther any other October babies out there?
I try to make it a month of celebration, but it's sometimes hard to convince my husband. His birthday is Oct. 20th.

I'm wearing some vintage Miss Dior edt as my SotE. Now THIS is the real deal! :bounce: I don't care if it's old lady, so am I. It is divine juice. Oh why don't they make 'em like this one anymore? This is "the one" (of chypres anyway) for me.

    Have a great evening!

** Many thanks folks for the most kind remarks and good vibes sent his way. I personally think it helped him immensly, as all thought is energy and energy is what we are all about.

As of right now, he is off the critical list and, having had bladder blockages cleared and urine buildup relieved with antibiotics given to stop any infection, is on the mend with an ETA home of 5 PM tomorrow. Gracias all!!

Thanx for the EXcellent photo of the beautiful dragon pouch MizR. Needlework may be "only a craft" but it does take hand-eye coordination and the fortitude to do that "needle up at the right corner and down at the left corner" PURRfectly - so that the work is harmonious. And no one does it better than TWolf. I've done crewel and petite-point and bargello for years with some success, but quail at counted cross-stitch. It's like Bach fingering exercises.

Thanx to Haunani I am spending the evening in the much-touted Dark Amber and Ginger Lily. Like Lime Basil and Mandarin it's just not working on me. I am devastated. What I'm getting is really cedar shavings and it's not pretty. May be the change of seasons.

Shout out to KBE - whose pussy cat is on the mend. (From "the other" Thursday SoTD thread.)YAAAAAAY!! That was scary there for a while.
