for a ride up to Mendocino
Top Notes: Bergamot, Lime, Lemon, Black Pepper, Wild Basil, Rhubarb, Cypress
Middle Notes:Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Lily, Mimosa, Cedarwood, Sandalwood Vetiver
Base Notes: Tonka, Vanilla, Musk, Amber, Olibanum, Oakmoss
This is a captivating scent. It grows on you slowly, but it blossoms beautifully. There's a lot going on in this scent. The pyramid is crammed with different notes, but somehow, it's all making beautiful harmony. Apart from the hesperidic notes in the top, the rhubarb and cypress (also in the headnote) pick up the cedar, sandalwood, and vetiver in the heart. The floral accord lends a touch of sweetness without overwhelming the greener, spicier and darker notes. Some oakmoss in the base gives this a chypre quality, anchored by the florals and bergamot; and yet this is balanced by oriental notes in the base. It's not cheap, but in my estimation, it's much better than some that are even more expensive!

Base Notes: Oakmoss, Vetiver, Amber, Cinnamon, Spices
Mitsouko, introduced in 1919, whose name is Japanese for "Mystery." The top notes of bergamot, mandarin, neroli and peach (the first peach synthetic used in a perfume) blend into a floral heart of jasmine, rose and ylang-ylang, anchored by oakmoss, benzoin, sandalwood, labdanum, myrrh, cinnamon, and musk. The rose lingers beautifully into the drydown, and the light spice and heat of the cinnamon infuses the whole with warmth and depth.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost

Trying another new vetiver, for me.
Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vetyver Haiti
Another different take on vetiver from what I have worn before. This one starts out strong with a brisk woody top full of the astringency of vetiver. The scent then develops into this smooth amber at the base. Very interesting progression on my skin and so much better than I thought it was going to be based on sniffing on the strip.
Have a great Friday everybody.

From a sample - Balenciaga's Cialenga...after a fresh green opening,, light-hearted flowers over an equally light-hearted oriental base. Rully pretty for another warm day.

It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

just got my 4 ml of musk ghazelle in the mail yesterday.....the maig potion all the evtean basenoters are raving about...aka "the real sex in the bottle".....the muskyness is animalistic yet not overbearing and not too stinky ...reminds me of Black Aoud .....however there is almost a hint of a sweet note in there.....the stuff is very potent - comes in black castor oil color and goes on real thick almost muddy.......i am layering it today with the the "cleanest" scent i possess - FM Outrageous! so far so very good....i am enjoying a musky note thrown into detergent zestyness of Outrageous! and two comments so far from others...
