Today I'm wearing the perfume I found this week in a perfumery in Balzano in Northern Italy, one of my holy grail scents, discontinued of course, that I'd found impossible to source on the internet. So there I was browsing in this old perfumery in a small but prosperous town full of regular perfumeries overflowing with all the latest designer frags, when I saw this sitting behind the glass of a locked cupboard in a dusty corner of a cramped room: -

Mystere de Rochas 15ml pure parfum, sealed and wrapped in its original box.

Oh jeeze. I thought it was plain old London and that's what I got a sample of. Oh well - I tried.

London is a pretty floral by Laudamiel - gardenias and tiare and jasmine and peony with a creamy woodsy heart. I'm enjoying it but it won't take the place of Brit Red for me.

So all the boys smell the same today, eh?
    Nice thought.

I'm in Dior's Dolce Vita, since I found a little bottle in a shop yesterday. I thought they'd discontinued it and was mourning the fact that I only have a mini, then I saw this and had enough of the grocery money left to buy it. (God I hope my husband doesn't see this!)

To me, Dolce Vita is very much like its big sister Feminite du Bois (also a Pierre Bourdon, though perfected by Chris Sheldrake). But where FdB is a stunningly simple pounding bass riff, DV adds a jaunty melody on top. Dare I say I like it even better? Or are my plebeian roots showing?

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Nothing wrong with being a little early Lian! In fact, over here there's less than 80min left of Wednesday anyway! Hugs for having one of those days though! Monday was a bit like that. Since then I've introduced myself to coffee - hence being extremely talkative today. I can see this'll being a new addiction.

Anyway today I wore EL Sensuous (thanks tdi!). Me likey, probably not FBW though. This evening I'm in Fidji... mmmm so gorgeous *BN salute*

    Have a great day everyone

Edit: Wordbird, I heard it was discontinued too. Isn't over here but that's not saying much. In fact I've seen giftsets of Dolce Vita for the Christmas season. Please let us know if you do find out whether it is discontinued or not!!

Everyone smells so good today! I'm trying out my new gift with purchase mini of Yves Rocher's Iris Noir. I bought a full bottle of Rose Absolute edp but maybe I should have bought this instead. It's very pleasant, especially as it dries down and the fruitiness up top settles down. I think I smell violets, but they're not listed. I think there is some kind of relationship between iris/orris/violet ingredients, but I don't know the particulars yet. This is a friendly sort of violet/iris scent.

Lian, I was wondering how I'd lost a day! But I could do that. So I opened this thread to see what I'd worn on Wednesday. Don't feel bad, we've all been there. Me, quite often! I know the way well.

Hope everyone's day/evening is going well.

Lian - so can totally relate. I kept thinking yesterday was Monday. (Sure felt like it. )

Today - another blind stab in the dark for scent came up with
    Ayala Moriel - Moon Breath.

My sample is a year old now. Seems more resinous than the last wearing. I think I prefer it over the last time I wore this scent. It's aging nicely.

    Yes! Yes! Yes!
I think part of the reason I'm so enamored with YRIN is because I can get violets from it--and I suffer a large degree of anosmia with iris and violet, so this is like a whole new spectrum for me. I've been tapping my mini almost every night. I just love it late in the day. At this rate, a full bottle is looming on the horizon. If the notes were listed as blackberry, violets and patchouli, I'd have believed it.

Wearing Il Bacio today and it's just the pick me up I need on such a grey, rainy day. Also wearing a smidge of Prada Infusion D'Iris, having been inspired by Asha's SotD post from Tuesday to try this one again. It's a very genteel scent which reminds me of Houbigant's Lutece from years back although the powder is far more restrained in Infusion D'Iris.

This is not a scent for a shrinking violet. Nope, not at all!

    Notes according to BN directory:
Top Notes: Blackberry, Clove, Elemi, Aldehydes.
Middle Notes: Geranium, Gardenia, Purple Hyacinth, Narcissus, Ylang Ylang.
Base Notes: Oakmoss, Vetiver, Jatamansi, Myrrh, Civet, Black Agar, Orris, Russian Leather.

I totally smell the hyacinth and the ylang-ylang. And definitely the leather. Very pungent combination -- leather with strong florals!!!!!

I began the day in Lyric Rain, but I found myself continually resisting the urge to dye my hair black, drink Absinthe, and read Sylvia Plath; so I washed it off, and now I'm wearing Lumar Aphrodisiac. It's a very, very pretty, flirty, rose-tuberose-amber all-occasion fragrance.Top notes: neroli, white rose petals, mimosa and orange blossom; middle notes: lily of the valley, tuberose and tonka; base notes: coffee flower, amber, hibiscus seeds and patchouli.

Tovah, I'd hate to see you dye that beautiful red hair. Looks like I'll be doing the absinthe-drinking and Plath-reading. ;-)

Several boxes of samples came in today--one from Aedes, the other from CJ Scents. I ordered them before realizing how many samples I'd walk away from Sniffa' with. Oh well, one can never have too many samples, despite what DH says.

I didn't score a sample of Burberry London, even though I'm curious to give it a try. Maybe I will hit the next SSD. I'm wearing Dior Addict.

Chaya had her appointment with the Rheumatologist yesterday, mine was today. It's official, I DO have Rheumatoid Arthritis now. He also drained a HUGE cyst I had behind my knee, caused by the RA. He got 30 ml of fluid out, which he said was a record for him! It's been SO painful for several weeks, but he thinks that this will really help get over the swelling and pain. My fingers are crossed.

Sestra, congratulations on your exciting find! Shadesofbleu, I'm sorry to hear about your knee pain and RA. I have a knee with osteoarthritis that I'm trying to manage, with some success. Joint problems are so maddening; I hope your treatment helps!

Today I wore Gres CABARET. I bought a mini because I was inspired by Luca Turin's review in the latest Guide installment. I just love it!!! Sometimes a fragrance feels like it was just made for you. Dabbing this on, for me, was akin to sliding into my favorite casual flowing skirt. I just feel at home in it! For those who haven't tried it, it's described as a rose chypre. I'm thinking I may have found my favorite fragrance category!

OK, time to stop raving. I'm curious about what others think of this one.

    Oh, Shadesofbleu, how rotten.

More warm healing vibes (and some scented epsom salts) from the Boston contingent. Suggest a fragrance involving pomegranate for antioxidants!
