Thread: Dirty, Booze, Tobacco Frag.
I'm looking for something along these lines, something like what the long-discontinued Jovan Gambler strikes me as having smelled like.
And I'm not talking Versace Dreamer.
Something much dirtier...
I used to smoke and drink excessively and women loved how I smelled then, so why not reproduce it - without all the gargage in my bod.

Burberry London is boozy and tobacco-y , but not really dirty.

Oh, my god, you are asking for a lot out of a fragrance. Have you tried Vierges et Toreros by etat Libre d'Orange? Nasty leather that you can always pour a little Courvoisier into.
dirty, booze, tobacco - there is only one thing i reach for when i want these things, and it's Michael Kors by Michael Kors. not only is the chunky square glass bottle nice to handle, but the juice has a real boozey thump to it (think smoky whiskey and rum-soaked dried fruit) and a great smoky tobacco note that lasts throughout. in my opinion it's an evening scent (though not always, sometimes i wear it during the day) as it has a decadent sexuality to it that is simply perfect for a night out - it also seems to get better the more i smoke when wearing it.
try it, especially when you go from the cold autumn air into a warm bar - EVERYONE will ask what you're wearing. i've just bought another bottle online whilst writing this as mine was running out - i reminded myself how much i love this stuff!
Three fragrances instantly come to mind...
Oud Cuir d'Arabie - boozy, medicinal, resinous, leathery, smoky. Leather and oud fragrance.
Fumidus - dirty, earthy, smoky, tarry, boozy. Primarily a birch and vetiver fragrance.
Lonestar Memories - meaty, smoky, dirty, leathery, minty. Bizarre blend - try before you buy!
Man, I love 70s/80s frags.
Inspired by excess. Studio 54. Simple, hedonistic & down-to-earth.
I'm going to try Michael Kors' frag., as it too sounds good on paper, but I'm apprehensive about anything current. There are like 3 scents out there produced by a thousand companies. They're either smooth or spicy, all boringly the same, all very metro, none daring. Everyone young smells the same, unless he or she steps out of the box.
Another concern I have is a lot of these EDTs are likened to Aramis, of which I'm not terribly fond...
What if I just put a few cigarettes, dirt and some leather in some Everclear and let it sit awhile?

Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. Look no further.
Looking for: Vento Canale, da Gianni Campagna.
Baldesarinni -Amber . smells like cigars and whiskey.
Varvatos Vintage definitely has those things and more....
Escada Pour Homme is very boozy, but has only a minimal tobacco in it...

PVC and Leather. A Chain and a feather
Reading the title of the thread immediately pictured in my mind Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque: smoky, boozy tobacco with a sultry slightly animal background. Look no further.

Yeah, Quorum. It's one I'm a little afraid to wear. It requires the same sort of total commitment as putting on a Dead Kennedy's album.

Thank you all.
I have a lot of testing to do.
Eau de Italie Bois D' Ombrie fits that description. Smells like downing shots of whiskey inside a tobacco barn. You have to be in the right mood for this type of thing, but when you need it - this is a good one.
Dirty English smells mostly like booze and leather to me.
Havana by Aramis is not boozy, but I get a dirty tobacco spicy scent from it.
" Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain."
Saadi (13th Century Persian Poet)
Bois D' Ombrie (Woody, dry, masculine goodness.)
Michael Kors (Boozy raisins.)
Polo Green (LOTS of tobacco, some booze, mostly pine)
Vetiver by Guerlain (Little booze, perhaps, but lots of great tobacco.)
Booziest of all: Escada pour Homme
Peggy: "Right now, we have to get to the mental institution. Something terrible has happened."
Peggy: "Brother Boy has tried to kill himself. He jumped out of his bedroom window."
Latrelle: "Isn't he only on the second floor?"
Peggy: "Yes, but he hit his head on a lawn gnome."
Fr. Sordid Lives: The Series
"Live, live, live! Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death."
Idole de Lubin usually gets a mention in this category. it's my go to for boozy and leathery. and i wouldn't call it clean.
I'm kind of astonished that I'm the first to mention C&S Cuba. I don't do well with "dirty" frags and I found this one slightly too dirty for my tastes, but it is a wonderful tobacco frag.
Oh and Idole is fabulous too.
Life is a banquet...and I got botulism! -- Me
I agree with Fumidus. Definately has the dirty part down. Boozy and tobacco, but perhaps not dirty would describe Le Dandy, too.
michael kors is a funny one actually, in terms of modernity.... it certainly doesnt smell 'modern' to me, yet it's somewhat slicker than many of the old 80s powerhouse types. sorta like a modern replica of a classic car - looks the same, but built better! hope that makes sense.
as someone who wears guerlain's vetiver at least once a week, i'd say it's probably not what you're looking for, to me it's just too green and invigorating to fit your description (although it is possibly my all-time favourite fragrance). the tobacco is beautiful, but it's a leafy semi-dried tobacco and not really smoky. and isnt at all boozy to my nose. although the vetiver is quite rooty-earthy.... oh hell, buy this anyway. it's just so good.
i'm dying to try fumerie turque though.....
Kors' scent is amazing.
Didn't get to try many of the other suggestions, unfortunately.
You might want to try: Cumming the Fragrance
From the website: Base notes of leather, peat fire, highland mud, burnt rubber and white truffle ground the scent with rugged sensuality, while the core notes of cigar, heather, Douglas fir and rubber contribute to its sharpness. The fragrance is completed with spicy top notes of bergamot, black pepper, Scotch pine and whiskey.
