I last bought some lip gloss by Givenchy in a small metal compact with a chain...made to look like a dandy's pocket watch!! (They were sold at Sephora and Harrod's in the last year.)

That IS Hubert when he was younger, with Audrey, of course. He himself was considered a fashion icon years ago. He is almost 83 now!

I like his very impractical attitude--very 19th century--toward fashion! LOL!

Click on "Go Advanced" below the "Quick Reply" box. There's an option to Manage Attachments below the body of your message. The interface there is a bit clunky but it gets the job done.

Alternatively you can upload your picture to a hosting service like imgur.com (free, no sign up required) then use the link option you mentioned.

Thanks for the Giacobetti pic. I just bottled on Fou d'Absinthe, and will undoubtedly own Idole de Lubin someday. I really love her luscious, liqueur-like scents. The music on the Lubin website (http://www.lubin-parfum.fr/) is almost as addictive as Idole - check it out!

    Here's another venerable female perfumer:

Ann Haviland set up a lab/studio in New York some time after 1909, making individually tailored perfumes for her clients, based on her assessment of their characters. Her small lab later became the 'Ann Haviland Perfume Company', which lasted, in one form or another, until 1974. I'm not sure which, if any, of the later mass marketed perfumes were designed by Mrs Haviland, but here's a description of a perfume she created for Theda Bara, the vampish silent screen actress, around 1917.

"As a base for the mixture for Miss Bara I made a perfume of oil, woods and gums of Persia. For her better nature I combined a perfume of pomengranate blossom exuding a sweet scent of velvety sweetness and charm, typifying the depth of her soul and also radiating warmth."

Yup, that he does ( I mean - he knows he's hot stuff ) ..... still ...he's eye candy . Intellectually, I prefer Andy Tauer. He's a sweetie.

In regards to whether he creates all his own juice- here's an interview ....

Now THIS is one cool lady. Just check out any of the articles about her. Some of her mystery scents (like Eau d'Herbes) and the "private juice" she made for Balmain - would love to see a recreation of any of them.

I've not found a lot about it, either. I'm not even sure it went into production. The few bits and pieces of info put it into her portfolio either late 1950's or very early 1960's, but I'm not sure what source that info comes from.
