Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost

A very pleasant green floral, in my opinion suitable for both sexes. It strikes a fresh-floral note and reveals the green and mossy woods aspects more and more as it dries down. Citrus, fruity, and green notes (with marigolds) in top lead off, followed by a floral bouquet of white flowers with honeysuckle, orris, and a light rose, all supported by a base of woods, musk, and moss. This is especially good to wear in fine weather; it matches the sunny mood. Its a pretty optimistic scent, giving one a feeling that everything is going to be just fine: "Everything's coming up roses and daffodils" (well, narcissus...). A very definite thumbs up for this Daniel Molière classic from 1982.

Looks like it's shaping up to be a "power scent" weekend. At least so far.....
A consecutive appearance by YSL's Rive Gauche Pour Homme.
And, of course, it's wonderful!
Have a good weekend

First time trying Diptyque Philosykos (thanks to Lady in Black for the chubby sample).
Too early to form an opinion, but I sense that the number of Diptyques that I can't live without will probably rise to 3 after today.

Awoke in the middle of the night...in the dark, groped around for something to spritz (got a bevy on the nightstand - much more important than tissues or a glass of water) and came up with one of the gingerbreads BlackCat sent me...so it's gingerbread for the rest of the day!
Will maybe enhance with

From a sample. This stuff is so simple that it seems hard to justify $100 at Lucky Scent but it's really well done. Fresh not in the aquatic mode but pugent, desert-like and bracing--mostly cedar, vetiver, a bit of lavender, maybe some patchouli. Reminds me of walking down to the beach in Carmel, CA, from the house where my wife grew up, along a row of enormous eucalypus. This is the sort of thing I often crave in my self-imposed exile from the West Coast. Maybe I need me some.

Today I'm in:
i Profumi di Firenze Ambra del Nepal
Amber and incense are two of my favorite notes and this one gets the mix oh so right in a light understated way. The amber floats like a feather and then whiffs of smoky incense add to the experience. The vanilla in the base is light enough to be complimentary instead of jarringly inappropriate. A really simple progression of very mainstream notes executed beautifully.
I'm not sure why this is marketed as a feminine, it seems easily unisex to me.
Have a Super Saturday everyone.

I'm wearing Chergui today.
I've trademarked the color bleu
I am wearing Musc Maori and will spend most of the afternoon creating my Thanksgiving battle plan, including lists, recipes, and times of deployment.
Okay, I've fallen off the "fiscal restraint" wagon in a BIG way. This week bought both Donna Karan Wenge and Labdanum and a BUNCH of goodies from Beautyhabit.com (25% discount! See the discount board, folks!). BH luxuries still to arrive, but I'm reveling in the two DK frags, and will describe today's SOTD testing in a moment.
The two DKs together (I landed free shipping!) were bought blind because:
* Together they were less than half the price of Elternhaus' MoslBuddJewChristHinDao (Unifaith) perfume, which I love but had heard compared to those two layered; and
* I've also heard that at least the Wenge was one of the main notes in DK Black Cashmere, which I adore
SO, today I tested each separately in the crook of an elbow, layered together on the right wrist, and layered with Ava Luxe Teakwood on the left wrist.
My impressions thus far are:
* that BOTH Wenge and Labdanum are present in DK's Black Cashmere,
* that I prefer the Labdanum as a stand-alone scent (it's haunting and beautiful)
* that layered the Wenge & Labdanum do indeed come close to the Elternhaus fragrance, though less complex and I'll need to do a direct comparison
* that while I need to be careful with the Teakwood (it's very deep and powerful), the triple-layered combination mentioned above is dense, lush, and a total winner in the wood -rich scents department.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson
My sale thread has some of my underappreciated fragrances looking for a good, new home...
I'm testing Aedes de Venustas by L'Artisan Parfumeur today. It's hard to describe and so far, it's staying pretty close!

Frederic Malle Bois d'Orage. Goodness, so masculine, this name. But here I am, saying, I am woman, hear me thunder! haha Yes, just ask my boyfriend, who has recently nicknamed me "Meanas" - pronounced 'menis' as in you-know-what, but meaning "Mean as [add expletive of choice here]." Nice.
Turns out this fragrance is very fitting for me and my new nickname!

At 8:00 AM it was No.032 Bay Rum as SotD. Spicy rum and smelled delicious!
L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme just spritzed for SotE after a fun morning/early afternoon watching the grandkids in league soccer play. Spices, woods and a tasteful but not overpowering dash of vanilla in the mix. Bravo!
