Default Fragrance for a 30some years old lawyer

    Hello Fragrance loves,

My name is Peter, I am 32 and my profession is lawyer - and I am a newbie here. Maybe it sounds silly to ask for help on the net but I truly think you are great fragrance specialists and where else could I get better suggestions than here? I'm sure you know more fragrances than I can imagine.

I would like to buy three fragrances: one for the daytime in spring/summer, one for the daytime in autumn/winter + one for evening occasions.

    What I used to have:
    Z from Zegna
    Platinum Egoiste from Chanel
    and some simple parfumes.

But please, don't let be influences by my choices from the past, feel free to advice what you find best.

I am a 28 year old lawyer and these work for me:

EVENING-MPG, Ambre Precieux --or-- Tom Ford, Black Orchid --or-- YSL, Opium EDP (use if cold weather- do not use if warm)

    DAY/WARM-Creed, Bois du Portugal

    DAY/COLD-Burberry, Brit

I'm not a "lawyer", but I think you should always keep Chanel PE in your wardrobe.

I ate a lawyer for breakfast and a paralegal with my afternoon tea. It must have been the Dior Homme that made me do it!

    Guilty!

I work with lawyers and that makes me sad.

I say Angeliques Sous La Pluis for spring/summer daytime; Bvlgari Black for fall/winter daytime; and Knize Ten for evening.

    Daytime/Warm: Chanel Allure Edition Blanche.
    Daytime/Cold: Chanel Egoiste.

I agree with TheAttorney's selection of Creed BdP. I don't know if you litigate often, but I'll often wear Bulgari's au Thé Blanc (white tea) when I appear in court. It smells very nice but is subtle and understated. As for other occasions...

Daytime Spring/Summer: Penhaligon's Castile, YSL L'Homme, Truefitt & Hill Clubman, Trumpers Bay Rum
Daytime Autumn/Winter: Amouage Dia, Frederic Malle Bois D'Orage, L'Artisan Tea for Two (must like tea scent for this one, though), Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar (don't use in warmer weather)
Daytime Anytime: Divine L'homme de coeur, Divine L'homme de sage, Penhaligon's Douro
Evening: Creed Millésime Impérial, Le Labo Rose 31, Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet

    Respectfully submitted,
    Nicholas

thats the scent that popped in my mind too. IMHO, a lawyer should smell very sophisticated and intidimating, Dior Homme could make one feel that way.

I'm not a "lawyer" but hopefully still qualified to submit a suggestion. I must state prior to offering my views that all whilst care is taken to ensure my opinion is valid, I will not accept legal responsibility in the event that the proverbial hits the fan.

Daytime warm: Prada Infusion d' Homme - YSL L'Homme
Daytime cold / any weather: Terre d' Hermes - Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta
    Evening: Musc Ravageur

If you were not a "lawyer" my suggestions would be different off-course :-) you know not as special...

Even though you're a lawyer, I think you should just wear whatever you like...Unless your job requires you to wear a more professional or conservative fragrance. In that case, I would recommend Bvlgari, GIT, BdP, ADP, Gucci PH, etc.

You've got many suggestions, counselor. As an attorney myself I advise you to go a site like luckyscent.com and order yourself a bunch of samples (perhaps some of those suggested here), or any others you find interesting. It's a good way to acquaint yourself with different houses and different styles.

Ok let me suggest something considering both your previous choices (that indicates eventually your taste) and trying to widen a bit the range...
    daytime(warm): Declaration
    daytime(cold): Miracle Homme
    evening(warm): Diptyque Philosykos
    evening(cold): Chanel Bois del îles

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

thank you so much for the suggestions. Some of the comments really made me laugh, especieally when someone mentioned eating lawyers.

I will try your ideas. Some of you suggested Terre d' Hermes. Yesterday in the shop I had the chance to try it on my skin and I guess - but pls, give you opinion - that Terre d' Hermes is a really sophisticated and nice fragrance, and would really fit to an attorney but I feel so that it is for somebody who is over 45-50.

I find Terre d'Hermes to smell rather "young", but I think it could easily be worn by anyone. It's a great, all-around scent and a staple for many of the members here. Having said that, it can come across as a tad predictable on some.

Been a while this thread that you started, so how has your search been?

Gucci Ph is good, tho i prefer ph2 better

    some other suggestions to sample

    GIvenchy Gentleman - Leathery classic
    Bvlgari Aqua - aquatic classic
Gucci Envy - great oriental/incense type
Boss Selection - fougere, woods, mild citrus blended to perfection
Guerlain Vetiver - usual suspect for green lovers
Aramis Tuscany - quality Patchouli based scent, "modern classic"
Minotaure - classic citrus, with the warmness of a herbal dry down
Eau Sauvage - yet another all out citrus classic
M7 - heavy on herbs and musk, either love or hate it

there would be a whole lot more to suggest, but i guess these would do for now? hope this helps, and all the best on your buys...

    (Without Prejudice)

Vetiver Tonka or Sycamore - you'll start getting more expensive briefs . . .
If it's conservative firm then go for the Guerlain Vetiver
