    Default Kenzo Power...POWER???

Yesterday I made a comment about names TOTALLY NOT matching the scent.
Today I was reading an ad for Kenzo Power: "For the strong powerful man".
    Excuse me?
Kouros or something like that should be named POWER and be described like "for the powerful man".
This is really bulshh Kenzo Power is flowery, even girly maybe, it's the opposite of a manly power scent. Why do this people give a scent a name that doesn't match it at all. Can you give me more examples such cases.

They named it Power due to the highly popular female frag 'Flower.' I think Power has more of a ring to it than 'Flower pour Homme.'

Fleur du male = Flower pour homme

And a flower can't be ...... powerful? I think this is the idea. Only a powerful man could pull such a girly flowery scent. I don't think that the name is necessarily connected with the strength of the fragrance.

Fleur du male is a fragrance by Jean Paul Gaultier. We could expect this from him so it's not such a shock. (hey he has makeup for men)

    Flower...power. You know, "flower power" .., 70's? ,

The scent was meant to represent an "imaginary flower". Seems logic,...to me anyway.

the word power is not meant as in, "powerfull", masculine, strong scent or smth like that.

I disagree a powerful man should wear something like Kouros or Antaeus. I wasn't talking about the strength of the scent, but about the scent of the fragrance. Things like Fleur Du Male or Kenzo Power I imagine a guy like Jack from Will & Grace. But not necessarily gay.

I don't know men, I still would like a name like "Power" more on a 80's powerhouse

I agree the name gives you false expectations, but the scent itself is a beautifully done floral. It's more masculine than Fleur du Male. I like it.

Just the opposite for me... I thought it a horribly done floral - lacking anything too interesting, and turned bad on my skin. It's my opinion (and body chemistry perhaps) but I didn't like it at all, and likewise didn't find the title matched the scent.

That could be very well possible, as I only sprayed it on a card, which has been lying here next to me for the past week.

The sillage is amazing: I keep getting whiffs from it, and I love it. Most of the time scents will work the same way on my skin. If they don't, I spray them on my clothes.

Isn't Kenzo a Japanese based company? Maybe it's an Engrish mistranslation.

It's intentional. The similarity between the names Power and Flower is what was intended, because Flower has been such a massive hit for Kenzo but so far the men's scents haven't taken off in the same way. "A flower for men". At least that's what the Kenneth Green Associates rep told me.

The Japanese for "Power" (力 - ryoku) means strength/power, I can't see it being lost in translation. In fact, on the Japanese website, it even names it パワー (Pawaa = Power)

I thought 力 read as "ka" or am I mixing up my radicals again?

And Flower in Japanese is 花 "hana" so yeah, there's no way to mix them up.

    「力」の読み片は chikara, ryoku & riki

edit: sorry, never even occurred to me that 力 is just like the katakana KA (カ). you'd be right there

Sounds like a bright idea from a LVMH manager in charge of the brand...
