Question Searching for a fragrance that...

Of all the fragrances (35) I have have purchsed and tried thus far there is still a hunger I have for a fragrance that componetially could include some of my favorite notes. Here are the notes not to necessarily include all, please advise as to the product.

    Fruity or Floral
    Woody
    Incense, (Benzoine, Myrrh, Frankincense)
    Nutmeg, Cinnamon
    Patchouli
Must be smooth but, not weak with good silage

Oh! and must be a quality fragrance.
Does it exist? You out there with more experience than I must have the answer so I defer to you. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Have you punched these options into the "fragrance notes" field in the Directory?

I was trying to think of a fragrance that had all of that... and I came up with Ayala Moriel's Razala. It's pretty obscure, but in manages to be fruity, floral, woody and incensey all at once. It's core is tuberose and myrrh, but it's framed with pepper, blood orange, oud and ambergris.

Oddly beautiful and somewhat discordant, it's one of the most unique orientals I've encountered.

Your addition of nutmeg makes me think you might like Winter Star; a bit of a hit around here lately.

Is Razala a niche frag and if so, available where please?

Both Razala and Winter Star are niche fragrances, and both are available from their makers' websites - http://www.ayalamoriel.com and http://www.michaelstorer.com respectively. Ayala sells samples; Michael may send out samples of Winter Star - I haven't asked.

THere are actually quite a few incense accented woody oriental scents with floral and fruit components and some patchouli. One of the first that comes to mind is Jubilation XXV from Amouage, though it's unfortunately very costly. L'Homme Sage by Divine and Serge Lutens's Arabie also contain most or all of the notes you've listed. Amomng designer scents, Gucci pour Homme is the closest fit that comes to mind right now.

Dunhil Edition has the fruit (lemon, bergamot), it's woody (cederwood, sandalwood), it's got the nutmeg and cinnamon (as well as , it's floral (lavender, geranium, muguet).

It doesn't have the incense from your list.

It's smooth, strong, great longevity and has loads of sillage. It also exudes class and quality.

Viktor and Rolf's Antidote - a heart of cinnamon nutmeg and jasmine, it starts out with mint and citrus and lavender, and ends with amber, leather, sandalwood and musk, and I believe some incense notes are in the mix too.

I just bought Sequoia by Comme Des Garcons Red Series...and it starts out with a very fruit applesque top note, then literally fades away in 20 seconds giving way for an intense aroma of rich woods and sweet amber...it's a lovely fragrance and by the drydown leaves a smoky ambery incense...very nice..definetly worth a try

    Shiseido Feminite du Bois

    and by extension

Serge Lutens Bois et Fruits, Bois de Violette, Bois et Musc, Bois Oriental

They do not have patchouli or incense, but they have everything else you listed. The beeswax in the composition holds itself very well for the resin notes that would normally be represented by benzoin, etc.

My first thought was L'Artisan Parfumeur's Tea for Two. Then I re-read your post and it doesn't really fit terribly well, so that may just be because my first thought is often Tea for Two. But, still, I'm going to post.

I agree with Vibert. The first thing that popped into my mind when I read your post was Amouage Jubilation XXV. Read Vibert's in-depth review in the Fragrance Directory and see what you think! It's a smooth, complex, quality fragrance.

I'll also second Serge Lutens Arabie, which I like very much. Arabie tends more towards the spicier end of the spectrum while Jubilation leans towards the incense, floral, and woody end.

I would try layering Jacomo Rouge with Adidas Victory League for that effect (though no prominent patchouli). However, you've got too many strong notes there to appreciate them all, unless the frag proceeds in very clear stages.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria WINTER DELICE sounds like something you might like.

Something easier to find might be Guerlain L'instant Pour homme. Check out the directory for both of these and see what you think.

No fruit, but if you haven't, try L'Occitane's Eax Des Bavx.
Incense, Cinnamon, spices, Cypress, Woods, Vanilla.
Not fruity, but definitely sweet when it dries down.

I though immediately of JHL. It's floral, resinous, spicy with cinnamon, and woodsy with patchouli on the drydown. So I think it has everything on your list, except the nutmeg. Extreme longevity, and tasteful, moderate warm sillage. A classic in every way!
