    Default Cigar smoke

I'm looking for a fragrance that smells like the smoke of a nice (vanilla) cigar. I absolutely don't want a 80'powerhouse.
I did some searching on the forums here and I found Tom Ford's tobacco vanilla, but I don't want to pay the price of a niche.
Aramis Havana sounds too much like the 80's powerstuff.
So no niche (Czech n Speak, fumerie turque), and no 80's powehouse, suggestions anyone?
I read about Burberry London, Varvatos, The Dreamer

Lomani Virtual. It is a fairly linear vanilla and tobacco frag. Inexpensive too.

Do you have the Cuba or Cubano line of fragrances in your nation? They have really inexpensive sampler packs, with 1.17 ounce or 2 ounce size assortments (4 of each).

Thanks,I just read about them, but from what I read they don't smell like a Cuban cigar? Besides that, I don't think it's available here anyway.

The original Cartier Must (especially in the parfum version) has a dark, vanilla smokiness about it that you might like.

Bourbon vanilla absolute diluted in ethanol. Bourbon vanilla has a sweet, tobacco aroma that actually reminds me of Bourbon whiskey.

    Sorry if I sound odd.

Honestly, if you are going to wear this scent a lot and you want the best then you must get Tom Ford's, Tobacco Vanille, because the longevity, etc... are perfection. I love this stuff, but I, like you, have not bought this due to it's high price.

Cuba Red is cheap and it has lots of lots of tobacco.
The dreamer is my the second best guess.

when you say tobacco, does it also mean that it smells like a Cuban cigar? There are lot's of fragrances that have tobacco but don't smell like a nice cigar. For example Dolce Gabanna PH.

Not Cuban per se. Even when unlit, Cuban cigars are strong and smell smoky. Dominican and... Hondureños (sorry I am not sure of which is the English demonym for Honduras ) cigars are more subtle, and that is how I see Cuba Red. I am a bit of an anosmic when it comes to tobacco: I cannot smell any real tobacco in D&G* . My next recommendation would be vintage tabarome but you've gotta love the price of the cuba collection. 4 usd each

The tobacco in the dreamer is not as authentic than that in Cuba Red or VT, but it has a really nice vanilla.

Now, if you want more smoke than cigar, well I can only think of 80's power houses and Expensive Niche EDTs

*Either that or the note 'tobacco' is just a generic smell with no connection to any real substance. A clear example of this is Amber.

I think tobacco is sometimes something you can't really smell it, but still know "it's in there", like in D&G PH.

Dominicans, hmm like Macanudo's, subtle is good
I gonna try the Cuba Red, although they are a little bit more expensive here , probably cause the webshop I found selling it, imports them from the USA.

Slightly off topic, but just for everyone who likes good tobacco fragrances.
DO NOT SLEEP ON BLACK WALNUT.
It smells exactly like a Cedar box filled with Acid Kuba Kuba.

Keep your distance after spraying, and the cheap Salvador Dali Laguna pour Homme gives a vanilla tobacco vibe.

Tobacco Vanille is the vanilla cigar smoke fragrance. If you go into a split with submachine you can get it for a more reasonable price..

I never heard of the frag, but I really enjoy the Acid line of cigars.

I was just given L'Occitane's Eau de Baux which I believe Foetidus reviewed and menitioned something about cigars in regards to this frag. It's nice in the cooler weather. A little to cloying in the warmer months though.

This is a good question. To me, good (usually cuban, but not exclusive) cigar smoke smells like many different things. Chocolate, apples, caramel, earth, all with cedary overtones. I much prefer the smell of unburnt cigars in Cedar casing. However, I haven't found any fragrance like that. London is a little close, but way too syrupy.

As for Vanilla cigars, I've never heard of them, but any flavoured cigars are gross and linear (including cherry).

    Check out the Basenotes' Marketplace.

Submachine is a member who frequently organizes bottle-splits of Tom Ford Private Collection fragrances.

If you look at the "sales thread", you will find the Tom Ford bottle splits and since he is splitting a big bottle into 50 ml bottles, you can get a reasonable deal.

whilst it's not a vanilla scent, Michael Kors has a wonderful cigar-like quality, sweetened with a honeyed\boozey dried fruit accord. one of my favourites.

I mean spray no higher than your stomach, then leave the room in a hurry. Laguna has some harsh acidic / saline notes that you don't want to smell up close. You need the distant sillage, that's all. Anyway, that's how I enjoy it - from a safe distance.
