    Default Penhaligon's Extract of Limes.

Penhaligon's just re-released their Extract of Limes cologne but made it exclusive to Harrods. I find that extremely poor business practice. What about the rest of us?

I think exclusives are a calculated risk. If a fragrance is a hit, it brings people in the door, and can be a short-term moneymaker for the store. It's also guaranteed advertising for the fragrance maker. If it's a dud, the store holding the exclusive is left holding the bag. If it's a long-term thing, perhaps it's a win-win.

Usually these exclusives have an end date, after which you find the fragrance everywhere that normally carries the line. Do you know if this will be the case with EoL?

I've been thinking the same thing in regards to Macy's exclusive on I Am King. Not sure which way that exclusive will turn out, or when we'll start seeing IAK in places like Target.

Call Hoarrods and have them send it to you.

    That's what I did.

I tried it in Harrods and didn't rate it frankly. Way too limey - more like a food ingredient than something you would want to wear imo.

I think exclusives are a good deal for the company producing the fragrance. It gives them a measure of status (assuming it is at a high-end retailer) that trickles down to their whole line, irrespective of the success. Since Extract of Limes was an established fragrance, I think this case was lower risk than most for the retailer as well.

Can anyone compare this to my beloved Trumper extract of limes please?

Quite different. Longer lasting without a doubt.
