Caron pour Un Homme.
Looking for a sample of Gucci Envy Me.
Lorenzo Villoresi - Yerbamate
My SotD selection today, is a bittersweet one. Not the scent itself, but the anniversary whiich is noted by my wearing it. It was 28 years ago today.....we lost a brilliant soul and a wonderful artist: John Lennon. As a tribute to him I have decided to wear a fragrance that, from what I've read, was a favorite of his.
SotD: Eau Sauvage by Christian Dior.
Thank You, John. Your spirit lives on in your work!
Have a great day, everyone.

This stuff is gorgeous.
I think this will be a stressful week so doing what I can to postpone that with:

and actually a dab of Frapin 1270 on one hand and a dab of Moss Breches on the other to keep me entertained through the day.
I'm a colognosaurus. Rawr!
It's a frigid cold morning here in Somerville and I'm ready to head out into it.
As promised here is the continuation of the story begun in Saturday's SotD threads.
Return to Candy Town Pt. 2 (A Basenotes SotD Tale in 7 Parts)
They say that confession is good for the soul. In that case telling my partner, sakecat22, about the history between The Gingerbread Man and I should make me feel good. I’ll believe that when it happens.
The slide into moral decay happens in the same way that you find yourself at the business end of the dentist’s drill, full of Novocain. A tiny little bit of sugar gets caught and slowly opens a hole in your tooth. That tiny little bit of sugar, for me, was named Mary Jane and she opened a hole in my soul instead of my tooth. Let me tell you there is no Novocain for a corrupt soul who betrays his best friend.
In those early days The Gingerbread Man, Mary Jane and I were the crème anglaise of Candy Town. We’d spend most every night at The Gingerbread Discotheque. The gumballs at the door would wave us past the red licorice ropes where the penny candy cajoled and pleaded to be let in. Once we got in, the scene was a mix of flesh and baked goods all grinding away on the dance floor. The highlight of a night in The Gingerbread Discotheque was when the DJ would let loose a torrent of frosting. Then you couldn’t tell who was baked and who wasn’t. As you walked through the back rooms you would see the most respected members of Basenotes City in close contact with all manner of sweets. I wasn’t any different. I showed up with a different candy on my arm every night and if I was alone I knew I wasn’t going home alone. I woke up every morning with some new flavor at the back of my tongue and a rueful smile on my face. That was because I knew that there was really only one piece of candy I wanted and she was engaged to The Gingerbread Man.
You should have seen Mary Jane on these nights, if you think of her as the cute little taffy, all little girl and red shoes, put that away. On these nights the dress was yellow but it stuck to every caramel curve. The shoes were still red but they were stiletto heels you couldn’t believe she didn’t ooze out of. Even GM was changing he was using a higher quality of sugar for his frosting and different colors. Gone were the traditional red and white, in were blacks and neon colors. The curly cue frosting hair was replaced with avant-garde creations from every hip froster in town. For me I discovered that Possets could make me smell like the candy I wanted to get so close to. When I wore Snowflake in the Martini (Peppermint Top) I never lacked for a refreshing dance partner. When GM and I would enter a room the crowd would greet us as the M-Team. We always felt bad when the “melts in your mouth not in your hands” crew were in the house as we felt sure they thought they were the M-Team. This should’ve been the best of times but when someone wants what another person has it never ends in a sweet way, especially in Candy Town.
And so this story is no different from a hundred other stories. In one night I made a decision which changed everything and led to turning Candy Town into the place it is today.

It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson
