Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

As (very fittingly) chosen by someone (can't remember who... jillsy? ineespenes?) in the pick my SotD thread: Jour de Fête. The tips of my fingers smell like Hiris from filling up a sample though. Interesting combination
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely products of a deranged imagination.
HABIT ROUGE for a cold but bright day.

Astaroth: I'm impressed beyond words over your ability to choose 3 scents for the day at once. I wish I could gauge my mood that far in advance.
Today: Memoire Liquide Ivoire (507?) - soft (really soft) musk with spices. Not a cozy as Cadjmere for me (I need that rosewood). This is more cuppa and biscuits with girlfriends cozy. Nice change for a cold rainy day in a cold, drafty office.
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." What a great array of bottles!
Here's my contribution....
...although I don't actually own this bottle.
FIVE STARS in the First Addendum to the Guide!! "A Masterpiece"!
One strange and gorgeous creation. On me the first breath is all citrus and smoke...smoky, "burn pile" smoke...not leaves or rubber. Then there's some ocean breezes and a waft of osmanthus (to me) Then some pungent green over a delicate floral....
...and - a half hour into the wearing - it's still evolving.....

Le 3eme Homme de Caron -- and I have already received a compliment
Happy Wednesday, all!

First snow here at Stately Somerville Manor. The wild poodles have been out wrestling in it. They love the snow. My wife and I joke about training a team of wild poodles for the Iditarod.
I hope everyone is managing to keep the bugs at bay as they always have a tendency to sneak up on us at this time of year with too much hilarity and not enough sleep.
Today I am wearing a new sample:
Tauer Incense Rose'
OMG!!! This is love at first sniff. This is full-on strong frankincense from the top. One of the strongest incense openings I've worn to date. This would not be one for those who like their incense muted as this comes on with all the subtlety of a trumpet fanfare. Then oh so slowly this lush deep rose peeks out from behind the censer and mingles with it before taking the lead. As this develops down to a cedar base the patchouli which has been there all along becomes a little more pronounced. This is an incredible scent on me.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

SMM- Bring on ze wild poodles !!! You KNOW I want to be the Iditarod lady, LOL...that's been a longtime fantasy of mine.
I'm not surprised you love IR- it's got your name on it.
[I suspect that you have 'incense-eating skin', at any rate ]
I'm in a very beautiful Meister cioncoction- more than the sum of its parts.
Take YR Iris Noir, and gently spritz over Madini Musk Pierre..
Because, the effect is stunning; harkens the nostrils back to insinuations of L'Heure Bleue extrait, PG's Bois de Copaiba. Adds a slightly fruity aspect [ as opposed to woody] of iris to a heavily resinous tonka base, compliments the ambrette seed in the IN.
Very longlasting, very inexpensive, smells VERY costly.
Have a good day-
And be WELL.
Le Baiser; warm, rich, luxurious for about fifteen minutes. And now nothing. Very disappointing.
Snow in Boston! Am in sandalwood and pale, exotic floral paradise (and thinking of Bossanova Boy, the only other BNer I've found who owns/knows of this fragrance) wearing Essence of Jerusalem.
Happy day to all.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson
My sale thread has some of my underappreciated fragrances looking for a good, new home...
Today, I very much want to triple test
Balenciega's Rumba, Neil Morris' Prowl, and Norell (no longer made by Norell, but by Five Star Fragrances). I hope I don't kill anyone today with my stench.
SotD is Guerlain Eau de Guerlain. As deliciously green as they come..

I've almost worn this for a couple days now, so figured I'd just give in and let it have Wednesday.
Bond No. 9 Wall Street
I'm a colognosaurus. Rawr!
I am wearing the wonderful Bois d'Armenie, perfect for the slow, rainy sleet that envelops NY. This may be the only fragrance that for me is utterly seasonal. I have never worn it in summer, but as I am one-third down my bottle, I seem to love it in the cold.
Good morning! I'm sampling Caron PARFUM SACRE today. This one is special - I can tell already. For others new to this one, here are the notes (from TPC): vanilla, myrrh, civet, cedarwood, lemon, pepper, mace, cardamom, orange blossom, rose, jasmine, and rosewood.
Seems to go well with my rose-colored cardigan and freshwater pearl necklace...
Well, I had my heart set on No. 5 (parfum) and thought my bottle was at work, but no, it must be at home. So, choosing from what I had at work, it's Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory.
For some reason I am obliged to type out the full name. That's the pedant in me, I guess.
I was wanting to wear this sometime soon anyway.
