    Default New Hermes Rocabar bottle

When I was at the King of Prussia, Pennsylvania Hermes store I saw that the Rocabar bottle has a new design. From the packaging, the shape is the same as Bel Ami or Eau d'Orange Verte bottles. The display tester was the old style (which certainly doesn't fit in the new packaging).

I don't know if the juice has changed though. Anyone out there try the newer bottle?

That's too bad. I have not seen this myself yet.

I am also curious to hear any thoughts on a formula "tweak".

There's a new Hermes shop here in Oslo and I happen to notice last time I was there (just browsing around) that the Rocabar bottle is of the newer shape.

Hermes is obsessed with "brand cohesion"...they want all of their perfumes to relate to one-another somehow. I have a feeling you'll see more of their scents in that bottle soon enough.

Thank god they finally got rid of that original, ugly bottle. I am all for brand identity and unification. To me the juice smells the same - sweet, piney and refined.

I always thought of it as "the cologne that comes in the ugly wool sock".

Since it's Hermes it should at least have been an ugly cashmere sock!

Why so adamant in using such an ugly bottle?

There's a picture of the new bottle on beautyencounter, I believe.

It was just a matter of time - all the other masculine bottles are the same shape. Rocabar was a '98 release so I doubt it will be reformulated the way Bel Ami and Equipage were when they were put into the new bottle.

Matters of taste. I always, well, still do like the original bottle. Much more so than it's rather drab replacement. The swatch did lend it a rustic and outdoorsy flavor, something that I thought sat well considering the scent contained therein. It also, if you include the little pewter cap, looked a lot like old basque herder canteens that were made of tin or pot metal and then wrapped or stitched into woolen blankets that could be soaked in water to provide a cool drink by way of evaporative cooling. Either interpretation I find a whole lot more interesting than the sad little rectangles being shat out by Hermes in what is hard not to see as a cost saving measure.

the hermes website still has the old bottle listed.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
