Default What do you do when you realize you don't like it anymore?

So, you found yourself disliking a fragrance (or even a note in some fragrance) after liking it so much after some time... what do you do?

    a) throw it (all of them) away... trash them... never to be sniffed again..
    b) hide them in a closet, since maybe after some time, you think you will like them again.
    c) give them to someone else - since maybe they will get the same joy you did from them.

For me... it's a)... Fragrance is passion... and for me, I can't wear anything that no longer holds the connection it once had...

    What's your opinion?

    1. sell it if you are dead certain you won't be reaching for it.
    2. it you cannot sell it, give it away
    3. if it can't be given away because it is that disgusting, toss it.

Right on! For everything over 10$ or so I see no point in throwing away what one can trade.

Unless it's a blind buy and I know I won't ever go near it again, I just put it aside for a month or so, because I know it's likely I'll find something new (not necessarily good though) when I get back to it.

If I am absolutely sure that I really don't like it (after giving it a few wearings or sniffing it in varied enviroment) I'd sell it or if its not expensive give it away. However if its a hard to find/discontinued stuff & I don't need the money to splurge on something that I really like, I'd put it in storage. I'd keep it anyways because I know its rare and hard to get again.

    f) try to layer it with something else, then b), and if that doesn't work d) sell

But I never buy blind and always test extensively before buying so it hasn't ever really happened to me.

If I go off a smell I usually just have a break of several months and just go back to it and 9 out of 10 times I love it again

Ditto that. I usually hold onto stuff and find that I like it, or at least find it interesting, upon returning to it. I've ended up regretting having gotten rid of several things--esp. Yatagan and Parfum d'Habit--so I'm cautious about that.

If I had a large collection, I would put it away for a few months in the hopes that some time away could rekindle the passion.... If not then I would sell or swap it... If my collection was smaller, then I'd immediately sell it or swap it. No sense in keeping dead weight around in that case...

Tom Ford for Men, CK Truth, and Escada Sunset Heat work well as room (toilet) deodorizers.
