Default Is Scherrer by Scherrer a good one?

I am interested in trying Scherrer by Scherrer (1979). Based on its description and notes, I imagine it like some fragrance I already enjoy, green, aldehydic, oakmossy, classics like Norrel or Trussardi Trussardi...Ivoire, perhaps. I want a bottle of it.
Has anyone tried it? Is it any good?

Oh, Hillaire, I'm so biased on this one.I love many chypres but I always come back to Scherrer. My very favorite chypre.

I'm hooked on the stuff, but I am partial to green scents. It's my favorite among the chypres with which I am most familiar (Cabochard, Rochas Femme, Miss Balmain). I appreciate that it's not too bitter, as chypres can be at times. It dries down to a good, old-style perfume. Just a drop has lots of power, so decant might be all you ever need (although it's pretty inexpensive anyway).

    Thanks, Nostalgie and Quarry.
I just got my Scherrer, and I'll tell you what:
    It's blowing my mind.
It's very very similar to my favorite fragrance Y, and I think it's an
    instant top three.
it does that fulfilling, almost cutting thing in the drydown that only a few chypres on Earth have managed, and makes me so addicted.

    i cannot believe I haven't owned this!!!

    Thanks!

Y is my very favorite green chypre. I have a sample of Scherrer that I haven't tried yet. I'm going off this instant to try it.

Has anyone tried Scherrer 2? Do you like it?

I used to love it. I've heard it smells like Youth Dew, a scent I don't know. A very long-lasting floral oriental. It was my "signature scent" many years ago, when I was a fragrance monogamist. I was complimented almost daily by men and women when I wore it.

A bit out of style now, but I wore it recently and remembered why I had liked it so much. Nothing edgy about it, but perfection in that category of slightly spicy, floral orientals. Nothing like the first Scherrer (and you have to be careful ordering, because people confuse the two in their listings).

    Great bottle shape, too.

Oooo, I smelled it on a strip the other day and really liked it. I've heard it's like Salvador Dali, and I love it and am having a hard time finding it. I think I need to go back and try it on some skin!

Scherrer 2 is quite different from the first JS scent. It is an oriental, in the medium-heavy weight range, with a very unusual top note of pineapple. The note doesn't strike you as "pineapple", and the scent could not be called "fruity" overall. It's an oriental with subtle fruit/spice accords, similar to the way peach is incorporated into Mitsouko by Guerlain or the tangerine in Signature by S.T. Dupont. Scherrer 2 is a very 1980's scent in terms of making its presence felt. Although it's not a screaming sillage monster like Giorgio or Poison, you should spray cautiously at first - it's fairly potent.
