Default ONE Similarity between 2 otherwise different colognes: Terre D'Hermes & A*Men

I do find these 2 to be very different colognes, save perhaps one slight similarity...

Today I got to sample TdH again, and I must say I liked it more than the first time. To me it has a bitter note in the background which contrasts the sweet grapefruit/orange notes in the foreground. This is the same reason I like A*Men: there's a contrast between sweet and bitter notes.

Does anyone see where I'm coming from?

By the way, I'm starting to think I love fragrances with internal contrasts.

I don't see any similarity between the two, except that I don't like either one .

They both have generous doses of patchouli in them. That's about it.

there is something similar ... if you really really look into it. I cant stand A*men and after my bottle of Terre is gone it wont be replaced.

For me, the first 3-4 seconds are very similar comparing TdH to A*Men. Some crashing burned sugar smell.

I find Terre d' Hermes to be one of the most horrible creations ever made. It is very harsh and just plain stinks in my book.

They couldn't be any more different. One is an earthy, vetiver scent and one is a gourmand.

    I agree with this observation!

I'm having TdH on my left wrist and A*Man on my right as I'm writing. The similarity can be that of a chair to a slice of pizza. None whatsoever. Not even a hint to my nose.

I am not sure about structure similarities, but I agree that there is a good amount of patchouli in both.

They probably both have gobs of Iso E Super. TdH does for sure.

Em, wow. TdH is getting its butt whipped here, even though I don't think it quite deserves it which is the same way I feel about A*Men. Oh well, to each their own.

That said, apart from the fact they both come in bottles with spray nozzles attached, I don't think they have much in common.
