I find I am really liking Parfum D'Habit, it's my favorite I've tried so far from MPG. To me it smells exactly like an Army Surplus Store, and I love that smell.

(Next on my list to sample is Eau Des Iles, I've only ever taken one small spritz of it, and I remember I liked it...need to get a full sample so I can wear it.)

I got Eau de Isles in decant form and liked it so much I bought a bottle.

Big fan of Route de Vetiver and Santal Nobel also.

I like several in this line:

    Santal Noble
Like the label says - the epitome of smooth, dark, and sophisticated.

    Parfum d'Habit
Feeling put upon? This is an extra testicle in a bottle.

    Route du Vetiver
The starkest, earthiest moist vetiver I know.

    Iris Bleu Gris
Iris root so true, so well-defined that you can actually reach out and stroke it. Great for the man who's afraid he can't wear iris, and the only equal I've found to Iris Silver Mist and Iris Nobile.

    Bahiana
Forget Virgin Island Water. This tropical cocktail is far more complex and suave. Exotic fruits on a brilliant foundation of florals and rosewood.

though they might be known for their intense scents like Santal Noble, Parfums dHabit, Route de Vetiver....their fresher scents are done equally good and doesnt get any play here...scents like Racine(lovely interpretaion of Citrus), Soie Rouge (a fun scent with with a nice floral twist, classfied for ladies, but can be easily worn by men), Fraicheur Muskissime (again a lovely combination of citrus with hints of herbs...), Secret melange (one of the best notes/interpretation of clove)

so, in short..sample as much as possible..this house has something for every one and the best part? theres nothing like MPG out there. they are very unique

The mpg I am thinking of is Route du Vetiver.

Be very careful with that (RdV). There are two versions and they couldn't be more far apart as an interpretation of vetiver. The 90ml bottles are devine. The 100ml ones are sweet and overpowering.

Racine is very nice. I wish I still had it.

Thumbs up Re: Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier

cpk: Thanks for the information. I think Santal Noble might be a better way to go for me. I love dark, deep, woody fragrance with sandalwood so, that looks good.

Route du Vetiver - it's just so in-your face, wet and earthy! Like a Vetiver marsh monster punched you in the nose!

Bahiana - A tropical/citrus fragrance with some depth and soul. It beautifully transitions from sweet, citrus, and fruity to a light tropical wood.

I never got that into the MPG line, but not from lack of trying. Ambre Precieux, Fleur d'Iris, and Eau des Iles were the ones I like the most.

Eau des Iles -- complex, dark, smoky with a coffee note
Grain de Plaisir -- a marvelous herbal green, dusky chypre
