A bit sweet, a bit powdery, but not too much of either. Others have mentioned that the drydown is awesome, as it indeed is. Personally, I don't find the opening at all taxing
to my nose. I enjoy the whole journey. It is a bit dressier than some others, but nothing you couldn't wear on a day off for a little excusion to someplace nice and fun.
This may be elegant, but it's far from stodgy!

17|17 Homme by XerJoff from decant

It`s excellent leather perfume in vein of Knize Ten, with ylang, rose and orris; and balsamic woody sillage.
Also remind me of rough masculine Onda by Vero Kern (ginger, birchtar, orris), but more refined and elegant.
Feels much more expensive (I have no idea about the price though).
    Just best in Leather Family!

Today the world around Stately Somerville Manor is a skating rink as the huge puddles formed by the rain last night have all frozen solid.

Scent twins with KiatBkk and wearing a new acquisition (thanks petruccijc):

    Comme des Garcons CdG2Man

Back in 2004 Comme des Garcons asked Mark Buxton to create a male version of their very successful CdG2. As in so many art forms the sequel is not as interesting as the original Mark Buxton creation but it does carry its own charms. The top dives straightaway into the olfactory spice cabinet as cumin takes the lead along with saffron and nutmeg. The latter two are really there just to soften the rough edges of the cumin. The progression into the heart is where this one really comes alive as the spices slowly recede and a smoky wood accord takes over. This has been compared to the smell of a fireplace in other reviews and that is a spot-on description of what I get. It is like the memory of last night's fire on your sweater, very unusual and very comforting. Vetiver takes the lead as we head into the base and the woods become less last night's firewood and more today's log, ready to be thrown on the fire. Mark Buxton is becoming the perfumer who I think I should like much more than I do, his creations use many of the notes that I appreciate but for some reason don't mesh to make me go all giddy with praise. I can't say that I've found any of his compositions boring they just haven't lifted my spirits as high as I expected.

    Have a Tripendicular Thursday everyone.

"Tripendicular"?!? Dang, I get grouchy when I have to check the dictionary before 8 a.m.

Gerald, you smell wonderful! Love Invasion Barbare, despite the silly name.

For me today, Biehl Parfumkunstwerke PC02 by perfumer Patricia Choux, from a d*cant.

Delicious (literally) -- I feel like I smell a bit like a dessert, but an extremely sexy and grown up dessert! Sweet and spicy and something to truly look forward to. Not your typical gourmand, but gourmand nonetheless.

PC02 notes: Bergamot, white lavender, cardamom, spices, peony, freesia, precious woods, patchouli, tonka beans, honey, musk.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, ...... I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost

    Alpona by Caron

The opening is almost powdery with its "crystallized" citrus accord, which I'm not too much a fan of. The midnotes & basenotes are where this one shines.

Sometimes, a bright aldehyde prominent chypre smells fantastic first thing in the morning - almost like an electrolyte jolt when you're thirsty. CdA delivers.
