    Default Cologne, deodorant, aftershave

I recently made a couple purchases of frags after doing a lot of reading on here.

My question is: How do you deal with aftershave and deodorant while putting on a frag?

The best choice would be to own a scent that comes in an aftershave, deodorant and frag, but that would get very expensive very quickly.

So after shaving, do I just apply some cheap Gillette aftershave and cheap deodorant and wait an hour or two before applying the frag?

I just don't want all of the scents mixing together.

    Any advice?

I use a scentless deodorant and I use after shave cooling gel, which is very lightly scented.

Moreover, I use scentless hair grooming products.

I use Mitchum Unscented Gel. Don't use any kind of after-shave really.

I use scented deodorant for a few reasons. One, I can't seem to find a scentless deodorant that isn't also an antiperspirant (do they exist?). Two, I don't think the scent of your average scented deodorant is strong enough to ruin your fragrance.

I solve the aftershave problem by shaving at night time. I love aqua velva but I could do without the smell.

Use a scentless deoderant (Clinique do a good one which is also an antiperspirant) or mildly scented (mitchum). And there are plenty of soothing aftershave creams/gels out there without fragrance.

unscented deodorants are fairly cheap and easy to find.

For aftershave, I would use a cheapo lightly scented balm or gel.

    Then comes the cologne.

As for soap, I use a pretty heavily scented bar, and it doesn't interfere all that much with the fragrance I'm using. But to be safe I would buy a dial soap bar and go from there.

Unscented anti-perspirant. No aftershave. I find that aftershave (besides being generally expensive, especially the better brands) does not give off strong scents and would not overwhelm your frags.

I do the same thing....maybe some vaseline intensive care lotion on my face if it's a little dry....but that's unscented too.

I either use no aftershave or unscented after shave balm, as for the deodorants I use either unscented or very discreetly perfumed ones and, up to this point, I could successfully combine it with most of the fragrances I use.

If you live in the States and are near a Whole Foods or some other organic market, pick up Thayers Witchhazel astringent. It is practically odorless and it makes a great aftershave. When I'm not wearing Aqua Velva and I'm wearing cologne, I use it.

As far as deodorant, I believe they also make a odorless deodorant made from alum (which also makes a great aftershave).

    Again your millage may vary.

    Shave well, my friend.
