Default A little help for Spring and Summer

As many here that live in the South of the US know it changes from Winter or Cool to the heat of Spring and Summer in a hurry. This seems especially applicable in Houston. This is kind of a take off from my Niemans thread but my wife likes spicier type scents like Burberry London. The more I've gotten into the hobby the more she finds a "perfume" note in many aquatics or scents today that makes her not like the scent. So my question is what is a spicier or stronger type scent out there that works well in Summer. I own Bulgari Aqua and it fits the bill but for some reason I want something different that fits also. I know TdH is in there too. What is a spring and summer scent that has a little more depth but that won't seem too light?Niche or designer. I don't like Guerlain Vetiver so that is out. Does the drydown of BdP make it more year around than fall/winter?

I'm still a fragrance noob, but I live where it is hot (really hot actually) far more than it's cold, so I was on a quest to find some awesome hot weather scents too. It doesn't get much love, but Lacoste Essential fits the bill nicely for me. I really enjoy the way it smells, and my wife does too. Also the top notes get reactivated with body heat. It leaves a fresh, subtle scent for most of the day.

Niche: HdP Ambre 114 spicy amber scent that is easily wearable in hot weather.
Designer: Habit Rouge Legere or Habit Rouge EdC. Both of these would suit your needs I think.

Two more that are not feminine and may fit your needs:

    Bond Riverside

    Bond Great Jones

Riverside is a little similar to Bvlgari Aqva; Jones to Paco Rabanne.

Here are some that I like. The longevity on all of these is acceptable also.

    Terre d'Hermes
Montale - Red Vetyver (blooms in the heat)
    Creed - Original Vetiver
    CDG - Vettiveru
    Brooks Bothers New York Gentleman
    Versace Pour Homme
    Bond - Bleecker Street
    Bond - Wall Street
    Maestrale - Profumi di Pantelleria
    Chanel Allure Sport Cologne Sport

The Montale and CDG samples should be here today or tomorrow. I do like Versace PH a ton but am wondering if the initial blast might turn her off. I am poised to buy it at some point though. I did like OV alot too.

My latest finding, Baldessarini Strictly Private - I guess it would be a great spicy scent for summer. Altogether I think it's a much better Burberry Brit for men, if you want a broad idea.

Vetivers and leather chypres are dry enough for hot weather but, unlike a lot of citrus and aquatic frags, they're interesting and long lasting enough to scratch the itch. Do you like vetivers other than Guerlain? Maybe an earthy, herbal vetiver like Villoresi or Etro or a leather chypre like Aramis or Quorum. What does your wife mean by 'perfumey', if you've been able to narrow it down?

I will let you know, but I think YSL M7 Fresh will be a good hot weather scent. Another one might be Eau de Rochas Homme

I am in Southern California and I wear it throughout the year and it works well for me on all but the hottest days (over 100).

Caron Eau de Reglisse - citrus, ginger, woods, vanilla - great for year round, can be worn by man or woman

Roger & Gallet Gingembre - great ginger scent, also unisex

A couple of my "richer" spring-summer scents are Fou d'Absinthe, which has a crisp, cool anise-seasoned heart over a fougere base, and Piper Nigrum, with brisk mint and black pepper on an oriental foundation. You might also try some of the more substantial green scents, such as Bel Respiro, Yerbamate, or if you can find it, Virgilio. These are all refreshing without any of the pedestrian aquatic accords that you find in so many lighter masculines.
