Fumeheads. LOL. I like that.
An Interview with Katie Puckrik (of Katie Puckrik Smells)
Katie Puckrik has many talents: TV presenter, TV producer, journalist, dancer, author, actress... Well, we can now add another string to that bow: fragrance reviewer.Last year, Puckrik began reviewing fragrances on YouTube. As Basenotes was more familiar with her other work we thought we would find out more about her new venture... How long have you had an interest in fragrance? Can you pinpoint when it became more of an obsession that a casual interest?I?ve always been entranced and stimulated by smells ? all odors, be they pretty ? or pretty stinky. I think that comes from having traveled so much when I was growing up. My dad was in the Air Force, and we were bouncing around from the US to Berlin, Moscow, London, Athens, Tangiers ? so many places with distinctive cultures and scents!
Ive always like Katie alot , she was the only good thing about " The Word "
I guess I don't watch enough TV - I'd never even heard of her. But she does a great job with the camera. I like the way her reviews are funny, yet she packs a lot of data into them. For me, the data is a bit off (my nose matches Mike Perez more than anybody else), but I found myself in agreement on many aspects of scents, and she definitely picks up many more notes than I do. You can tell she's been at this for a while.
I wish her a lot of success. I think she's right - fragrance is in a position to get pretty viral if it can cross channels out of the blogosphere. On the one hand, I would miss the "secret" nature of perfumista culture, but on the other hand, I think growth brings many good things. [When fraggies get mocked on SNL, we'll know we've hit the big time. ]
I'll say this - any gal who likes Tom Ford Extreme is AOK in my book!
She's pretty cool...We have discussions very often on her comments on her videos. I try my best to open her mind to different fragrances and niche houses, and hopefully I can offer something, as she is pretty well versed. I actually didn't know she had so much experience in entertainment until much after I started watching her.

I thought the length on the videos was good - not so long as to risk getting boring, but enough to get a good feel for the scent, and all the notes. A bit of trivia and context, and even some bottle stuff. I can afford 1-2 minutes no problem.
Thanks for the interview you introduced me to something I didn't even think to look for.
I thought Katie's videos were charming and if they can be the introduction to some of the scents she vlogged about so much the better.
Brava Katie I'll be watching from now on.
More writing on fragrance by me to be found at http://www.cafleurebon.com/
TV shows?! Interesting. If it's as entertaining as her reviews, I'll watch! At the moment, I’m developing two perfume TV shows in the UK and US, but would love to broaden out to newspapers, magazines and books.
I just discovered Katie and I love her quirky and succint reviews that keep me wanting more. She's sexy too! Katie, if you're out there, please do keep on doing your YouTube reviews.
Your nostrils, which will dilate immesurably in unspeakable contentment, in motionless ecstasy, will ask nothing better for space, for they will be full of fragrance, as if perfumes and incense; for they will be glutted with complete happiness, like angels who dwell in the peace and magnificence of pleasent heaven.
