Default BMM09: The Road to The Final Spritz Day 11-12

We now have the final half of the Scented Sixteen in place on The Road to The Final Spritz. Somerville Metro Man here to take you through the last two day’s worth of action. We’ll start in the Serge Lutens Region where both matches were never in doubt from the opening spray. Guerlain Vetiver easily handles fourth seeded Bvlgari Black, 70-41. Up next for the fifth seed will be top seeded A*Men. It should be a classic matchup of two designer powerhouses. The other half of the bracket is going to be a niche showdown as seventh seeded Czech & Speake #88 66’d Yves St. Laurent M7 Fresh, 78-32. Next round will not be so easy as Creed Bois du Portugal awaits.
There were two matches in the Guerlain Region seventh seeded Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan took advantage of the tired Frederic Malle Carnal Flower, 75-31. After the overtime victory in the first round the second seeded Floral Fanatics never were able to apply any pressure to the seventh seeded Ambre Sultan and just looked sluggish and too pooped to spray. The second match was one of the marquee matches of the second round and the stands reflected it. On one side were the fatigue wearing cheroot chomping supporters of the top seeded Aramis Havana. On the other side dressed all in white except for Big Blue K’s in the middle of their chests were the Special K fans of the eighth seeded Yves St. Laurent Kouros. This was a close game throughout and try as they might Kouros just couldn’t manage to get on top and stay there. Havana finally got out to a lead which it wouldn’t relinquish late in the fourth quarter and pulled away, 52-47. That led to a lot of victory cigars being fired up by the Havana fans and a lot of long faces on the Special K side of the arena. Havana is facing the other representative from the resurgent Creed which now boasts an undefeated 4-0 tournament record. Green Irish Tweed will have their hands full with the top seed but if Creed is going to show the committee they were underseeded this is a golden opportunity.
Over in the Creed Region the eighth seeded Chanel Antaeus put the biggest beating of the tournament on #16 Aramis JHL. The initial boys still looked hungover from celebrating the victory over the #1 seed Escada Homme and didn’t put up even token resistance losing 80-15. Antaeus won’t get so lucky in the Scented Sixteen as next up is Yves St. Laurent Rive Gauche pour Homme. The Right Bankers have their own cheer squad in place and the A-Team is really going to have to live up to that to advance. The other half of the bracket is an old time powerhouse versus a young upstart. The old powerhouse is second seed Guerlain Habit Rouge a 64-53 winner over Caron Yatagan. The scimitar waving fans of Yatagan left with their sword between their legs as the Red Coats were whooping it up for the second game in a row. The upstart they’ll face in the Scented Sixteen, will be sixth seeded Dior Homme which ended Yves St. Laurent’s 0-3 day pinning a 57-42 loss on Yves St. Laurent M7. This guarantees a designer fragrance will come out of the Creed Region for the Fragrant Four.
The last game was out of the Comme des Garcons Region and was the best game of the second round. This was a thrilling back and forth affair between the fifth seeded Amouage Jubilation XXV and twelfth seeded Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur. MdM jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter but slowly but surely XXV took control in the second quarter going to half time with a one point lead. In the third quarter XXV looked like it might pull away extending its lead to four. But in the last quarter about halfway through MdM went on an 8-0 run to take a five point lead it would keep until the final buzzer, 47-42. That finished a 3-0 day for Guerlain to make up for the 0-2 first two day of round two. Mouchoir de Monsieur will face the eight seed Chanel pour Monsieur Concentree in the Scented Sixteen.
Three Houses still have multiple scents playing as Guerlain has three, Creed and Chanel two apiece.
Two rounds down, four to go until we crown the King of Scent.
Keep voting and watching as only you have the ability to determine the winner.
I'll see you back here on The Road to The Final Spritz

That sounds so wrong. And don't act like you didn't mean for it to.

I was racking my brain trying to come up with a fragrance-related Eight but had nothin'. Until the Havana game got me thinking in Spanish and now we're going to see who advances to the Olfactory Ocho.

If someone has something better, for the love of God, say it. I got nothin'.

L'Anarchiste, Havana and A*Men would all probably take issue to being called elegant. And I don't even know what an enfleurage is, but it sounds expensive.

Enfleurage is a method of essential oil extraction from flowers...a employed in perfumery.

    Hmm..

    The Essential (oil) Eight?

Eh, I just woke up. Lemme get some caffeine and ponder this some more.

That's funny, as I was really liking Epicurean Eight. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue but the meaning is spot on.

I'll admit I like Essential too, because they likely will form an essential cross-section of many BNers' wardrobes.

Could you imagine a Yatagan/L'Anarchiste matchup?? Chairs being broken, faces smashed in, women and children weeping, destruction raining from the heavens!
