Welcome to Basenotes!
Just a note of thanks to the fragrance community in general and the Male Fragrance Discussion group in particular. Although I have enjoyed fragrance since I was a young teenager, I hadn't payed much attention to fragrance for the last 15 years or so. I found the Basenotes forum in June and have been lurking and learning since. I had no idea such a place existed! It has been great fun. I have found the discussion and reviews very helpful. Naturally, I have made several fragrance purchases that were disappointing. For the most part the disappointments could have been avoided with sampling. I sold a few of the fragrances that I didn't care for on Ebay at a small loss. On the other hand, I've also found a dozen or so fragrances that I immensely enjoy wearing. Creed BdP, VT, REL, SV, Vetiver (1948), Guerlain Vetiver, Habit Rouge, Heritage, EdG, Floris Vetiver, Amouage Dia and Jubilation XXV are among my current favorites. It's great to have fragrances choices again. Thanks again and best wishes in the new year to all.

Hi Martin, welcome!
My blog: http://scentedpassion.blogspot.com/
Welcome! Heh, I totally felt the same when I first found BN. I was like wow.. a group of people with my same obsession.. how can this be?
The best thing is being able to come on here, and discuss virtually anything fragrance related and not feel out of place; as if you would with somebody who doesn't understand your passion in the real world. So just start posting away! Enjoy the forums, they are the best.
Welcome to BaseNotes, Martin!

Welcome, Martin! I too am so grateful to basenotes and basenoters. Thank goodness I have a place to talk about this crazy obsession without driving my uninterested friends mad.
We like jazz, and we like pools. We all like fragrances so hooray for all of us!
Glad to have you with us, Martin, and I look forward to having you tell us how wrong we are about smells.
That girl, that bottle, that mattress and me.
Welcome! Nice to meet you.
Welcome to the cult of fragrance! Your world has just expanded and hopefully your wallet can sustain such a new expansion with your new found daily fragrance enlightenment. It's soooo fun.
Your nostrils, which will dilate immesurably in unspeakable contentment, in motionless ecstasy, will ask nothing better for space, for they will be full of fragrance, as if perfumes and incense; for they will be glutted with complete happiness, like angels who dwell in the peace and magnificence of pleasent heaven.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I sheepishly admit to bouts of near obsession with obtaining desired fragrances and also freely spending princely sums on fragrances in the last 6 months. In the beginning I wondered why anyone with a sound mind would pay $250 or more for 100ml of fragrance. Now I get it. If I like a fragrance, want it and feel it is worth it to me, I'll buy it (as long as it isn't the rent money). Although there are many fine fragrances yet to sample and possibly enjoy, it's time for me to slow down on spending/ acquiring and enjoy what I have.
