    Default Melon-ic thrills

Not always, but sometimes, melon notes are what makes the most sense...printempial, light and juicy, and of course providing lots of sunshine, I'm searching for the brightest melon perfumes.

I quite like Un Jardin Apres la Mousson but the cardamom is too distracting and dries up the little melon too much.

Vanille Galante has too much banana and strangely reminds me of Stephanie de Sainte Aignan's Eau Nirique.

Am still dying to try Hilde Soliani's Mangiami Dopo Teatro....

Does anyone else have any melonic loves?

    Very curious to know...

Eau de Star is very melon-y for me and it´s easy to get.
But once you get locked into a serious perfume collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

i do get melon/watermelon but only in the tops notes. the base is typical Anglel

New DelRae's Eau Emotionnelle has melon front and center (i've not tried)

Also, L'Artisan Fleur de Liane is also reported to have melon, I sniffed it on a strip - it had green notes prominently. But could be worth a try.

I haven't tried Eau de Star. I read about the new DelRae and it is curious....

Fleur de Liane is certainly green and wet, but I don't detect much melon. The base is off-putting to me altogether, with this strange metallic note that I can't put my finger on. Notice that also in Andy Worhol's Silver Factory. True, they are completely different scents, but there is this one note, or group of notes, that I don't care for.

    Thanks for the ideas!

Hello Agent Provocateur, tell me, does the aoud, patchouli and musk 'dry up' your melon?
That sounds very rude...sorry, but you understand my question I hope.

My favorite melon is a custom scent Yosh Han made for me with watermelon and vetiver. I also like Sage Machado's Garnet: Watermelon, Gardenia, Red Rose Absolute, Amber and Vanilla

Laura by Laura Biagiotti: judging from the reviews, the melon is front and center.

Caron- Royal bain de Champagne. Wonderfully juicy over-ripe almost at the point of turning MELONS.

    LOL you know something,
maybe a little, it's certainly not
that kind of bright or bubbly melon
but more of a winey, boozy & drowsy type.

And yet at moments I catch the brightness
    go figure!

Maybe because I'm wearing a fig scent today, your question made me think of fig -- same honeyed quality as a ripe melon. You can try:
L'artisan - Premier Figuier (esp. Extreme version)
    Diptyque - Philosykos
    Pacifica - Mediterranean Fig

The "melon" note in Millesime Imperial is by far my favorite melon note, I love smelling it on women as well as men.

Any of you ladies wear MI?

Hi Kess, I love fig as well...I know these all and have these all. They're great, but lack the aquatic juiciness of the melon :-)

I've never tried it...should definitely seek it out!

One of my favorite melon scents is Annayake Natsumi (The Scent of Summer). Watermelon! It's wet and refreshing and just sweet enough. I don't think Annayake gets enough love for their scents, but I own several and they're just great. (Paradoxically I DON'T own Miyake, which is very popular here. I get reefer madness from that fragrance and just can't seem to wear it, though I have a large sample and keep trying!)

Another scent with melon as an accent is Ciel Mon Jardin by Prince Jardinier. I love it for the rhubarb, but there is certainly a cantaloupe in there as well!

Fun thread, especially since melon is often maligned as a common and overused note.

I like this fragrance very much and have it on my wishlist. It's a fruity floral yes, but not heavy or overly sweet. I think of it as a Spring/Summer fragrance. Must try it again (all I have is a sample).

Hi lizzie_j, I have never, never heard of Annayake Natsume....very curious and I now want to hunt it down although can't seem to find it net wise at all???! Also, regarding the Ciel Mon Jardin, is the rhubarb anything like the CdG Sherbet Series Rhubarb, if you've tried it?

Do not have much to suggest, not into melons-watermelons, do not even like to eat them either! Or, I have yet to try a melon in fragrances that will sit well on my skin. Try typing the name of the note into Basenotes' Directory, perhaps the Serach option will come up with something else.

This said, I like the way you express yourself and can't agree more with your description of the scnets in the very first post. Please write more and welcome to Basenotes!

I was on a Millisime Imperial kick for a while, but got over it. But my standby melons are Perry Ellis 360 and Gai Mattiolo. I've been so obsessed with Gai Mattiolo lately that I just bought my fourth bottle of the shower gel: "Top notes are melon, peach, white flowers, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are carnation, violet leaf and pear; base notes are amber and musk."
