Default BMM09: The Road to The Final Spritz Comme des Garcons Regional Final

You’re looking at the Guerilla Dome in Tokyo and the Comme des Garcons Regional final between second seeded Hermes Terre D’Hermes and thirteenth seeded Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur. Cinderella is alive and well at this year’s tournament in MdM. You might wonder how the glass slipper could ever fit a scent from the Guerlain. As a thirteenth seed MdM was one of the last scents selected to the tournament and the fact they’re still here when the other more storied Guerlains like Jicky, Derby, and L’instant are all back at the boutique dreaming of next year firmly places the glass slipper on this scent. They’ll be facing a team in TdH which expected to be here. TdH was one of the pre-tournament favorites and they are not going to be afraid of a scent from the Guerlain especially since it was TdH that took down Jicky in the second round by three.
The Guerilla Dome will be filled to capacity for today’s Comme des Garcons Regional Final. It is always a joy for the fans of the scents sent to the CdG region because they always set the Guerilla Dome up in different cities around the world for the duration of that one season. In past seasons it has been in Berlin, Helsinki, and Stockholm. This year it was deemed they wanted to return to their roots and Guerilla Dome was set up in Tokyo. The pre-game festivities were a mix of traditional Japanese dance and avant-garde cutting edge fashion show as Rei Kawakubo knows when he has a stylish captive audience. On one side were the Hermes scarf-wearing fans of Terre D’Hermes and when they start their syncopated stomping in the stands you feel the terre move beneath your feet. The other side, are the handkerchief waving fans of Mouchoir de Monsieur. The whirling wave of handkerchiefs of every color of the spectrum makes for a beautiful spectacle.
It was time for both scents to take the court and right from the start it looked to be a close affair as Mouchoir de Monsieur showed they were going to stand up to Terre D’Hermes from the opening shot. MdM raced to a very early lead but TdH showing no nerves responded and then some as they trailed by two at the end of the first quarter, 24-22. The second quarter was played at a much slower pace as both scents looked to be conserving their juice. Even with things slowed down MdM kept up the pressure and outscored TdH 12-6 in the second stanza to take a 36-28 lead into halftime.
Both scents took the floor looking refreshed and ready to spray. MdM again started the second half like they started the game and extended their halftime lead to 12. TdH started to fight back slowly but surely and spray-by-spray cut that deficit in half by the end of the third quarter, trailing by six 44-38. TdH kept whittling away at the lead and halfway through the fourth it was down to three points. That’s when MdM stiffened on defense and held TdH at arm’s length holding that three point lead until there was precious little time left in the game. TdH came down and managed to cut the lead to two. It left MdM with possession and a chance to run out the clock but they got careless and with a steal and full court spray the lead was down to one. After TdH called time out you could see the determination etched all over MdM’s flacon to keep possession on the ensuing in bounds play. This time MdM kept possession and exploded in joy as the final buzzer sounded and they sealed the victory, 53-52. The thirteenth seed, Mouchoir de Monsieur, kept the clock from striking midnight and Cinderella keeps dancing at the ball as they make it two-for-two for Guerlain in the Fragrant Four. This will be a tough loss for one of the tournament favorites, as Terre D'Hermes was, to swallow but they'll be back next year.
After these messages we’ll be headed to Paris and the Jacques Guerlain Arena for the Guerlain Regional final between Creed Green Irish Tweed and Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan.
Keep voting and watching as only you have the ability to determine the winner.
I'll see you back here on The Road to The Final Spritz

Isn't it amazing that the two fragrances that have advanced to the Fragrant Four were both member selections? If Ambre Sultan beats GIT it'll be three for three, two of them by mikeperez23 (and he only listed two) and one by JaimeB.
