    Question Can we talk????

    Subject: Rochas Tocade.

Statement: I have read the Fragrance Directory reviews.

Query: What's your opinion before I hit the big order button?

    Thanks in advance.

What is yours? It's good etiquette for a topicstarter to begin himself.
Wanted: a cap of Bvlgari Th Vert

Wanted: L' Artisan Timbuktu or Fragonard Concerto

Well, I certainly wouldn't want to appear rude (lol) so, having not tried it myself I can only rely on the notes which look good. I love vanilla, rose is good, citrus start note, a little leary and musk (cool). Bottle is really neat. Oops, do people from this age still say neat? Oh well, so, would be nice to hear about the citrus, silage, nd longevity. Do you love it? hate it?, Yep that about does it.

It's very nice, and inexpensive. Looking back at my old sampling notes, I described it as follows:

    Basic character: mature rose vanilla
    Volume: quiet
    Topnote: fruity, but not sweet
    Heart: woody floral
    Drydown: sweet sawdust

I didn't find the citrus to be very distinct or pronounced. Sillage and longevity are moderate, but acceptable.

I do buy into the idea of ungendered fragrances, but this one really is a mature woman's scent at heart.

    Worth having? Yes.

    Wait, there's citrus in it??

Dunno how much of a gal's perspective you were looking for, but here's mine. I love it.

It's always on the verge of becoming too sweet, but that is precisely what makes it so interesting and charming. The rose is undeniably there, but it doesn't strike me as a rose fragrance. It's the most elegant gourmand I've ever smelled. It's cheerful and easy to wear.

As far as sillage & longevity are concerned....Tocade lasts at least six hours on me. A perfume has to be noticeable to me on me for four hours before beginning to fade to pass muster. (This, of course, is enough time to make a good, well thought-out decision about something.) Tocade does that in spades. It's one of my top five.

It is very nice in a candy sweet vanilla way, kissed gently by roses. It has tremendous longevity on me and it does border the "almost too sweet to wear" precipice, but all-and-all a very nice, wearable scent.

I love Tocade and plan on ordering a bottle someday soon - it is inexpensive so it's like not liking it is a huge problem. I think it's a fantastic candied rose/vanilla, sweet for sure but in a vanillic way, not a sugary way. If you like rose it's a great fragrance to have. A similar fragrance, but with more wood notes and a bit richer, is Parfumerie Generale's Brulure de Rose.
