    Default Citrus trees for fragrance?

Does anyone know the genus and species of the citrus trees perfumers use for natural frangrances? I'm thinking especially of different oranges. See the Orange Blossoms thread below. But lemon, bergamot, lime, etc would also be interesting.

It would be nice a) to enjoy the fragrances outdoors, where scent dissipates quickly, b) to compare the real thing to the extractions and approximations used commercially, and maybe c) to be able to make our own fragrances if too much of these ingredients are outlawed in the future.

    Thanks.

According to the repository of all of the knowledge in the universe (Wikipedia!):

Neroli oil comes from Citrus aurantium var. amara or Bigaradia (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neroli).

Bergamot comes from Citrus aurantium ssp. bergamia.

    Hope this helps.

For oranges, the matter is complex in terms of genus and species, and also in terms of products derived.
My thread generated a lot of useful information and discussion, I hope this helps.

There are still the other citrus fruits, but this is a start. Cheers,
