Default the ugliest, tackiest, naffiest (i know, i know) design of perfume bottles and boxes

just for fun (this has been 'inspired' by an 'incident' which i've read recently on a sotd and which i can only describe in the words of the bard, 'much ado about nothing'), post your pics of the ugliest perfume bottles you can think of, being the tacky 70's, ott 80's, depressing 'design' 90's or 'fancy' noughties.
please also include the release year and, if possible and can be bothered, accompany it with a short comment/description why do you thing that and what feelings bring you. please note i am not asking you to judge the juice. this is all for fun and to have a laugh at past and current releases and we should all take it lightly and in good humour, the tag line being "what were they thinking?"

    this is my choice:

ted lapidus pour homme 1978 - the worst example of 70's design with an extremely tacky red bottle with a huge plastic top and an even worse 'porn red' box with huge white letters, it epitomises the word 'cheap', for me this would be the equivalent of a a seedy amsterdam window shop

i think most of the older colognes have bad bottle designs. it wasnt until maybe 20 years ago that people decided to care about their fragrance being chic.

Ha! No, what has happened is that the definition of "chic" has changed. As it does all the time, of course, though slowly.

The Bvlgari Aqua bottle is not ugly by any means, but I admit I found it really annoying. It slipped around easily and I found it hard to spray.

Admittedly, I often like what others consider tacky or ugly bottles. Silly bottles can be humorous and cute, but in the case of the Lapidus, it's so humorless! "The tacky 70's, ott 80's, depressing 'design' 90's or 'fancy' noughties." -- good summations (style-wise)!

The most-hated bottle in my collection is Anas Anas by Cacharel, released in 1978. A cheap classic, at least until it was recently reformed into chemical soup, but since this is about packaging only ...

That bottle!? WHY? I see lovers and tolerators call it "milk glass." It looks like some dollar store deodorant (or let's just come out with it: douching product) married a very apologetic vibrator that likes to think of itself as a 'massager.' The blurred flower is supposed to indicate soft femininity, secrets, the perfume's namesake Anas Nin 's transgressive French femininity and all. French media representations of girlishness are so hyper femme that it's humorous sometimes (Nina Ricci! ... though I love that stuff too), well to an American. Very old-fashioned. But American marketing can be pretty raunchy, even worse (the "fancy noughties").

The old ads for Anas Anas by Sara Moon were beautifully photographed, yes, if almost stupidly forcedly homoerotic for a perfume intended for tweens. The bottle tried to be arty, but it's way too hygiene product. I see all kinds of apologies and praises for it, but well, I just don't get this one.

This is true. And I also wonder if the target demographics changed, meaning that designer houses started to skew significantly younger. How many designers in the 70s were really targeting teenagers the way so many do now?

Thats true too. Not just ugly but tacky. A perfect example of this is Givenchy Play, with a bottle that looks like an mp3 player that's 10 years out of date. Sheesh.

I already posted this in the other ugly bottle thread, but here goes again: Animale Animale

Something about that fake plasitc marble cover, the HUGE text, and the vomit color scheme just screams TACKY to me. I can't stand it. Is that supposed to be a crack in the marble or a lightning bolt? Either way it looks stupid.

There are a lot of ugly bottles and packaging out there. I hate the glitzy nouveau-riche hideousness of anything Bond No. 9, the tacky over-the-top plastic diamonds of Matre Parfumeur et Gantier (a house I love for the actual fragrances they put inside those ridiculous bottles, however), and - horror! - the clumsy, cheapo and monumentally uncool packaging for Santa Maria Novella's otherwise excellent Nostalgia.

It isn't the ugliest ever but still, Clive Christian n.1 cap looks like an unnecessarily-detailed pair of testicles.

    Guerlain - Homme Intense

    Charenton Macerations - Christoper Street

Oh my God...I'd be afraid it would start talking to me in the middle of the night! Well, considering the source, it would likely curse at me.

Anyway. I may invite some hate with my choices, but I think these two are just beyond tacky or even kitsch. They're just silly:

This is a fun thread! Some of these are just tacky! Personally, I think Le Male is one of the worst, but I do like the scent itself. I am a little self conscious handling them (and also the A&F Fierce bottle) when I apply the fragrance.
