Default Fragrance reminiscent of male armpits/sweat? - Legit. posting

I have a friend that is requesting a mens fragrance that, well, smells like a man... sweat, armpits, etc... and I have no idea, and a bit embarrased to ask in the shops... why he wants this, I have no idea, but I'd like to grant his request for his birthday...
Hope not to offend anyone.. and this is a legitimate question. Hope someone can help.
I asked him what about pheromones, and he said No. He "wants to smell like a gym jock without the effort". Hope someone can help.
    Thanks.

I think all answers will probably be in the "better than" armpit category, no matter how much they approximate armpit.

I'm a great fan of Diptyque's L'Autre, which smells strongly of cumin and patchouli; the cumin is often thought of as smelling like a smelly body. Another would be YSL's YSL Pour Homme Haute Concentration. It's got some herbal element that makes it smell like body and citrus.

    Hi and welcome!

Eau d'Hermès by Hermès comes to mind.

Try Oxygene by Lanvin. Most accurate reproduction of sweaty, musky body odor I've smelled yet. I don't like it much, but he might.

Cartier Declaration - basically anything focused on cumin smells like armpit to me.

Well, I actually on me, it's a skin scent but with decent sillage. I adore it and don't think it smells like sweat, etc...however everybody who is not familiar with the actual smell of musk, thinks otherwise.

I think Le Labo Vetiver 46 has that sweaty body odor armpit thing going on.

I was really enjoying wearing Le Labo Vetiver 46, and then someone on one of the perfume blogs mentioned that it smelled like body odor, and I realized that was a valid interpretation. I haven't been able to really enjoy wearing Vetiver 46 since!

The last and only time I sampled a Creed fragrance the SA took out a bottle of something or other and he looked at me asked,'What does it remind you of?'

    I replied, 'Armpit!'

    'Yup', he said.

Wish I could remember what the name was!

Yes indeed. In the best possible way. I find Eau d'Hermes far and away a better scent than Terre d'Hermes.

I have a girl I use to test out new colognes - most of them she says "that's nice - you smell... sweet." Her reaction to Eau d'Hermes was "Mmmm-hmmm. Yes, sir."

Her reaction to Carlo Corinto Vetyver isn't repeatable.

I can't believe that I am going to be the first to mention Greyland by Montale. It has that wonderful "sweaty" thing going on but in a great way along with sandalwood and cedar.

I honestly have never smelled a fragrance that even comes close to the smell of bacteria festering on the human body. It is a myth. Cumin smells like cumin. There are urinous, fecal and cat pee scents, but sweaty? Doesn't exist!
FYI, I have MKK and it does not smell like a musky crotch. If my scrotum and the space between my legs smelled like MKK after wearing a pair of polyester jockey shorts in the high humidity all day long, I'd be the happiest guy in the world!

My recommendations have already been mentioned above: Eau de Hermes by Hermes and L' Autre by Diptyque.

Get Eau de Hermes - it's cheaper plus L' Autre might be hard to find (it's officially discontinued).

What about something that smells like a nice cologne, but that has the smell of armpit in the background? Kind of like someone has some armpit odor and tried to cover it up with cologne?

If that works, Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Pamplemousse is pretty notorious for that.

(I think I spelled it wrong....)

That's the smell of phenylacetic acid - it's a urine smell, not sweaty one.

rogalal, it's Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune and I must agree with Ruggles it smells much more like urine, not like body odor.

Thanks guys. I have to admit I've never actually given it a proper wearing. You know, because it smells like urine

Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme smells exactly like Lifetime Fitness to me - jock city. It's perfect for your friend. Edited to add that I believe it's Subtil Pour Homme, the Ferragamo in the blue bottle.

Some time ago I felt like Oud 27 by Le Labo is smelling like sweaty Pinocchio - sweaty dirty boozy wood+amber.
    Also Haramens by Parfumerie Generale.
And a lot of perfumes with animalic bases that are smelled like hairy chest - more in sillage.

Anyway - armpits has different smells as every man has his own hormones inside and bacterias outside

You might want to explain to your friend that he should not romanticise the sweathog accord. Smelling masculine and smelling unwashed are 2 different things.
