I agree with Ruggles - the magic is gone from Versace. Versace used to stand for something totally different... flamboyance, opulence, quality.. without being gawdy.
In the past 5 years or so, maybe more, I think the entire philosophy has changed. This has impacted the fragrances they put out as well. Say what you will about the "Jeans" line, they were certainly unique creations and exciting (dramatic) to say the least. Just my two cents..
