Default Let Guerlain pick your Guerlain

I just took a 12 question quiz at Guerlain to find the Guerlain fragrances best suited to me. The results say, "You see fragrance above all as a means to Dare (from Latin ausare).

    1. To be bold and courageous enough to do something
    2. To attempt to undertake with audacity
    3. To take risks, show oneself to be impetuous

They suggest I would enjoy Mitsouko, Jicky, Vol de Nuit, Parure, and Chant d'Aromes. I've tried only the first two, and am disappointed not to see my new love, Bois d'Armenie (but I don't find it anywhere on the website).

What is your Guerlain, according to Guerlain?

    ha ha, this is interesting.

I apparently see the fragrance is a means to 'seduce' (which I think they mean that I lean towards orientals, which is true)

    They recommend:
    Insolence
    L'Instant
    Shalimar
    Samsara
    L'Heur Bleu
    Nahema

The only one I did not try is Nahema; the rest I tried and like to a varying degree with LHB being the most 'difficult' to me because of the soapy (to my nose) opening.

AOG, I assume that Bois d'Armenie does not come up because it's part of L'Art et la Matiere collection, which is Guerlain's equivalent to, say, Chanel Les Exclusifs. The range of scents they list are mainstream, I'm pretty sure.
For sale: Armani Prive (Cuir, Jade), Yves Rocher, Artisan Ambre body cream http://community.basenotes.net/showthread.php?t=228894

    There's no men's quiz!

So I took the womens. (I'm enlightened like that...)

I see fragrance above all as a means to seduce

    1. Insolence (never tried - bottle's too girly )
    2. L'Instant (never tried)
    3. Shalimar (civet, yuck)
    4. Samsara (never tried)
    5. L'Heure Bleue (tried and intrigued by...)
    6. Nahema (never tried)

    Hmmm.... I'd better get cracking.

EDIT: Wait a minute! It gave me the same 5 as OudGirl! I smell something brewing here...

2nd Edit: Doh! Apparently I'm a seductive twin of Kess, not OudGirl. I was reading wrong. Duhhh...

You see fragrance as a means to Seduce.

    Insolence (too commercial on me)
L'Instant (kind of nice but ultimately boring)
Shalimar (I love the parfum, but the other strengths are icky on me)
Samsara (I kind of like the parfum but have worn it maybe two times since I bought it two years ago)
L'Heure Bleu (this gets all musty on my skin)
    Nahema (Strongly dislike it)

    My results: Freshen Up

    1. To make or feel fresher, to invigorate, to cool off
    2. To quench one's thirst
    3. To reapply make-up, to enhance radiance

They suggested several of the Aqua Allegorias & some Eau de Cologne scents... I do like some of the AA's, but Spiritueuse Double Vanille & Angelique Noire are my favorite Guerlains thus far.

    Fun link, an_oud_girl!

Thanks for the link, an_oud_girl! I wonder what my actual wardrobe (ideal and real) says about me.

According to Guerlain, I'm seducing around with Kess, Rogalal, and Socalwoman. I haven't tried one of those on my list! Oddly enough, my darling DH does not see this coinciding with my perfume choices. I suppose it's good that we met before I got all wrapped up in this? Although he reintroduced me to the world of fragrance in the first place, so technically it is his fault....

Mine said, "You see fragrance above all as a way to make you SMILE." I completely agree with this assessment! The fragrances suggested are Champs-Elysees, Jardins de Bagatelle, Chamade, and Apres l'Ondee. I've only tried the last one on this list, and I do enjoy it. Any comments from those who have tried the first three?

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing this, Oud Girl.

I love Jardins de Bagatelle! It's a big, well-blended white floral that I wore decades ago. My best friend at the time didn't like it, and Kess didn't care for it much either when I sampled it again at (NM? Bloomies?) last month, but I'd really love to have a bit more because I feel so nostalgic and happy when I smell it on me. I do, in fact, smile!

It has been years ago I took Guerlain's test and they adviced me Shalimar (absolutely right)

    This time:
You see fragrance above all as a way to make you Smile
    1. To show a feeling of happiness, pleasure or amusement by means of a specific expression of the face
    2. To be radiant
    3. Noun: smile. An upwards movement of the mouth and eyes expressing joy and happiness

    Fragrances:
    Champs-Elysées (yes)
Jardin de Bagatelle (used to love it)
    Chamade (YES)
    Après l'Ondée

I am going to cheat, I want my Shalimar and Jicky back

Mine turned out to be ‘DARE’!
    1. To be bold and courageous enough to do something.
    2. To attempt, to undertake with audacity.
    3. To take risks, show oneself to be impetuous.

(This is really not me at all though.)

    With best choice perfumes as:
    -Mitsouko (Love it!)
    -Jicky
    -Vol de Nuit (Love it!
    -Parure
    -Chant d’Aromes (Love it)

But I'm with Riannon...I'm going to cheat a little and keep wearing my Shalimar and Samsara too!

I'm "Dare" , for which they recommend Mitsouko (ugh), Jicky (not my style), Vol de Nuit (only classic I do appreciate so far), Parure (never tried) and Chant d'Arômes (ditto).
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely products of a deranged imagination.

Shalimar (I like it and own it)
Samsara (I like it and would consider purchasing it)
L'Heure Bleu (I wasn't thrilled with the EDT - I need to try another concentration)

Also got DARE; off that list, I do adore Mitsouko, but the others, naah. I'll stick to my dare-seduce mix of Mitsouko, Shalimar and L'instant (and maybe one day I'll even dare-smile-seduce with a nostalgia bottle of Jardins).

    I also got "Seduce"
I've tried and like three of the suggestions,
    Shalimar, Samsara and L'Heure Blue

but I still love my Attrape Coeur best
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." I was DARE too - I am pretty sure Guerlain cannot be trusted to pick my Guerlain. I'm a Plus que Jamais girl - more than ever, after seeing that list....

Of the selections others have had, I would be much more comfortable with those offered in the SMILE profile, and who doesn't like a good giggle? I shall be closet smiler then.

Oh and Rogalal, I quite agree that you wouldn't do much seducing with Shalimar!

Twins here with Haunani. I was a bit surprised because LHB is my siggy scent. However, I love mimosa & violet. I own Chamade & Apres l'Ondee & love both of them. Never tried Jardins de Bagatelle. I used to own Champs-Elysees in the edt & don't recall being all that impressed but that was early in my scent development. I'll look into these.
