For my blog I used Perfumes: The Guide to try and identify the most common categories of fragrance & then a couple of masculine & feminine examples in each category. I suggest sniffing as many as possible to see which categories you might enjoy.

Floral: For women - Joy, No. 5. For men - Insense, Amouage Gold for Men.
Wood: For women - Narciso Rodriguez for Her. For men – Beyond Paradise Men, Paco Rabanne pour Homme.
Citrus: For women – Diorella, DKNY Women. For men - L'Instant pour Homme, Dune pour Homme.
Fruit: For women– Badgley Mischka. For men – Egoiste.
Rose: For women - Rive Gauche, Beautiful. For men - Lyric Men, No. 88.
Oriental: for women – Shalimar, Hypnotic Poison. For men – Stetson, Chergui.
Green: For women – Alliage, Cacharel’s Eden. For men – Green Irish Tweed, Grey Flannel.

BTW, PTG categorizes L'Eau d'Issey as "melon floral." Florals are the largest category, so you could look in the on-line spreadsheet version for lots of suggestions if you want to stay in that category.

I think he means lemon floral, which I agree with for the most part.

You might also like Dior Eau Sauvage and Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

Yeah I just got my Platinum Egoiste from a swap and its a beautiful lemon floral. Its rare because it is a floral but maintains a good level of masculinity. The few floral mens fragrances that came out in recent years seem to be very unisex.

I checked the book. L'Eau d'Issey is described as "melon floral" with "the distinctive, airy green melon-aquatic note of Calone," by LT. TS describes L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme as "fizzy lemonade" and L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Intense as "herbal citrus."

Whatever. I still suggest checking scents in other categories. Maybe it's really citrus you like, or gerbal, instead of floral.

Now might be a good time to try that summer flanker - L'Eau d'Issey Summer Pour Homme. It's available in Sephora, and comes in blue-etched-looking bottles. It's very similar to the regular one, but a bit cooler and mintier. The summer version of L'EdIPH is a bit less woody - that's my only complaint.
