In the three years since this Thread started I have expanded my horizons and can absolutely concur +100% with the Guerlains mentioned above:

    Eau de Guerlain
    Philtre d'Amour
    Sous le Vent

They respond well to action and are engineered to last!

Keen to get hold of Bergamote 22, I had a few days with the bathroom amenities, shower gel etc., in a hotel a while back and was absolutely blown away.

Wow I am honored this was resurrected and I must admit how fascinating it is to witness the evolution of our preferences. It's funny how I no longer care for EDOV and still search for that perfect citrus. So far it is mandarina duck man but hope to experience others!
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Anyways, I wore a very well known green woody citrus to training tonight and it was magic! I can't think of any situation where this isn't perfect. Whether you do marital arts, work out at the gym, rake leaves, study, scratch the nether regions, marlin fishing, sky diving, or what have you, my holy grail citrus award that is worthy of praises upon high, goes to........Eau D' Orange Vert by Hermes! There is simply no better citrus in my book! So which citrus does your award go to?
    Selection Verte

Though if I could be bothered to carry decants on me (or not give a damn about longevity ) ADP Colonia and your Holy Grail would make it to heaven as well

Honorable Mention: Lowe Para Hombre (1978) Versace l'Homme (1984)-- not to be confused with SculptureofSoul's Versace PH (2008) which I haven't tried; Bowling Green (aromatic/citrus) and of course, Signoricci.

BTW--Has anyone tried the Acqua di Colonia (1996) by Lorenzo Villoresi?

    Cheers,

I've always wanted to try this one as I wear and enjoy Pure Black. What makes it MD Man stand out from the crowd?

Wearing it as we speak. It is a beautiful piece of work, understated and very natural in feel but I think of it more as a lightly powdered orange blossom style (think Castille but more refined) than a citrus eau, per se. Maybe the_good_life will chip in at some point, he has a great perspective on all these.

You have dipped into the Social Group about all this stuff, I take it? Worth a look.

Eau de Guerlain. This shower gel from L'Occitane goes very well with it:

Can't argue with the OP's choice save its relatively poor longevity (and its sister scent Concentre as well). Edit: My own choice (how could I have forgotten) is vintage Monsieur de Givenchy. Honorable mentions to Acqua di Parma Colonia and Eau de Patou.

It's a bit of a mystery how my beloved YSL pour homme has not made an appearance here after 70 posts. But to be honest maybe it should remain that way.

Not a big citrus fan, but my "holy grail" goes to Bvlgari pH Extreme, hands down! Bitter citrus (notably grapefruit), grass, tea, musk, spices and florals. Reminds me of Voyage d'Hermes to some degree. VdH also ranks high up there for me, as well as TdH, for citrus fragrances.
    My Current Top 10:

    Rive Gauche Light (2004)
    Fahrenheit (1988)
    Paul Smith Man (2009)
    Burberry London (2006)
    Prada Amber pour Homme (2006)
    Live Jazz (1998)
    Eau des Baux (2006)
    Midnight in Paris EDP (2010)
    Arpege pour Homme (2005)
    Eau Duelle (2010)

For me there's no doubt: the best citrus is Chanel Eau de Cologne.
