Default What is the cheese note in MPG's?

I just received a vintage bottle of Centaure. Although a very traditional cologne the cheese note is there in the opening. The same cheese note that I detected in Santal Noble and others have reported in Jardin du Nil. It seems to be a signature note in many masculine MPG's. Does anyone know what is this note?

I never detected it in any of their fragrances.

The reformulated Jardin du Nil has had the parmesean cheese note removed. I'm also curious as to what ingredient creates this accord.

I always thought it was the geranium that caused the cheese accord. I like it in Jardin du Nil.

I never detected anything resembling "cheese" in Santal Noble. ( either formulation)

It appears briefly in the topnotes and it is slightly metallic. It is there in the new version of Santal Noble. I think the only scent outside MPG's that I have come across it in is Aoud Cuir d' Arabie.

I wonder if everyone here is talking about the same thing! The metallic note in Aoud Cuir d'Arabie is the Aoud I'm pretty sure, but like mike said, I think the funky sweaty and slightly metallic note in Jardin du Nil is Geranium leaf.

However I have a vintage Centaure, and the slightly metallic note is different, if I'm perceiving it correctly. I think that's just a mix of lavender with tobacco that gives that sharp metallic alkaline bite.

By the way, when geranium is listed as an ingredient - I'm guessing they mean geranium leaf cs the flower? Everytime I smell a geranium, it has no scent whatsoever, except for when you rub the leaves and it gives that alkaline smell.

Yes it is always the leaf in geranium although threre are different species of geranium and the smell of the leaf can differ greatly.
Lavender does bring a somewhat metallic note to the scent, that is true.
When it comes to ACdA I am talking about something different than aoud as I am quite familliar with how aoud smells. If I am not mistaken (I' ve only smelled from a sample) there is a slight cheesiness in Montale Patchouli Leaves as well.

No, that's too mild, it's more like Eau de Dumptruck.
