From Hermes--Concentree d'Orange Vert (2004) and Un Jardin sur le Nil (2005)--both citrusy in different ways and both J-C Ellena scents.

Burberry London for Men (2006)--spicy, leathery, oriental, but not heavy or cloying.

I also like D&G The One's (2008) sweetness and ginger. Similar to YSL's L'Homme (2006) but rounder and more comforting.

I've read so many favourable comments on it that my blind vote goes for this one Alas, I can't try it in Hungary.
Apart from that, Guerlain L'Instant and JPG La Cologne Fleur du Male are the best I know from the last some years.

In my opinion Narciso Rodriguez for him is pretty nice in the modern designers scents concept.

Do the Chanel Exclusifs count? If so, Sycomore.

Otherwise, I give the palm to Azzaro Couture, Jil Sander Scent 79 for Men, and Donna Karan Gold.

I agree that London should be ranked highly, but it's hard to say that one is better than another when I can't wear any of them two days in a row (and in fact try to wear different kinds of frags from one day to the next). Sticking to the "men's," I'd say:

    Michael for Men
    Visit
    FUBU Plush
along with London, though Cuba Red is a great cheapo that's not as sweet as London, but otherwise quite similar

Baldessarini might not deserve to make the list due to longevity issues, but I never tried the concentrated version.

Best new designer release. Really good stuff.

I also agree with Dior Homme, Narciso Rodriguez and Black Orchid.

I'll also add Cumming by Alan Cumming, though don't know if this counts as a designer scent.

Those were made in 1999 and 1997...cheater ! I think the OP mentioned the years being between 2004-2009 for "Modern Designer Fragrances"...which makes even me feel really old. I always considered anything after ~1995 to be modern designer anyways.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I must admit that i have most of those mentioned here and really enjoy wearing them. I don't discriminate against niche scents. But over here niche scents are very limited and the prices are really high so i have to resort to the much cheaper designer stuff.
