Default Giorgio For Men vs. Givenchy Gentleman

The "light patchouli" thread I started earlier today has piqued my curiosity now on two patchouli frags: Givenchy Gentleman and Giorgio For Men. I'm interested in both, since they're easy to acquire, and I've heard they're similar. Which do you prefer and why?

P.S. Regarding GG, I'm asking about the NEW version, not the vintage. I already know what the vintage smells like.

My guess is that these are both "dated" (I've tried Gentleman and can't deal with it) and you'd be better off with something like Michael for Men, unless you don't like tobacco.

Givechy Gentlemen is downright "dirty and i love it" kinds, Giorgio for men chisels of the sharp edges and what you have is a refined, smoother version of GG. i love both of em. but if you ask me from the wearability perspective (daily wear kinds), Giorgio for Men wins hands down. The quality is just ir-replaceable. It's a Fabulous offering..i still cant beleive it sells for $27 (100 ml)... matter of fact, KMF is selling it for much cheaper rate in our sale thread (not sure if its still available though) ...check it out..

Givenchy is much more patchouli dominant than Giorgio, at least to me.
Givenchy is also more linear than Giorgio.
Givenchy is less versatile and can get heavy.

If I have to chose one I will go for Givenchy I think is a better scent. Truth is that both are great, manly and classic, winners!

The issue with BOTH fragrances IMO is that neither one is "light." Lighter on the patchouli, Giorgio. The reformulation of Gentleman is slightly toned down...

I think GG is more unique but both are great.

I'd go for Givenchy Gentleman too, mainly because it has more "edginess"
