Your nostrils, which will dilate immesurably in unspeakable contentment, in motionless ecstasy, will ask nothing better for space, for they will be full of fragrance, as if perfumes and incense; for they will be glutted with complete happiness, like angels who dwell in the peace and magnificence of pleasent heaven.

II est de forts parfums pour qui toute matière/Est poreuse. On dirait qu'ils pénètrent le verre.
Black Diamond by Herve Domar. Amber and incense and incense and amber. The incense turns the amber slightly sour, just like the oregano does in Ambre Sultan. Nice work, whomever the nose is.

Hello and best wishes to all.
Catching up, My SOTE way back on Friday was a 3rd or 4th test of Terre d'Hermès by Hermès.
This is one I found quite baffling when I first tested it, but having smelled the pure Iso E Super, it makes much more sense to me now. Basically, it wears on me like a cumin/grapefruit mix that eventually fades to an herbal vetiver, but with a bucket of Iso E Super poured over the whole thing. The end result is quite interesting and intriguingly pleasant, but I don't think it's for me.
Yesterday's SOTD was another test of Diptique L'Eau de Tarocco.
I'm really loving the blood orange in the top of this, but I'm not completely enthused about the saffron in the heart. Repeated re-spraying kept everything fresh and beautiful for a hot day, but I'm not sure about putting all that work into it every time I wear it.

From a sample.
I love the refreshing lime opening, but unfortunately on my skin this fragrance drys down to an overly cloying suntan lotion vibe. I can certainly see this fragrance as appropriate for a lazy summer day beach fragrance, but certainly not for a productive, operative word productive, summer day.
I will take Chanel Allure Homme Sport, Allure Edition Blanche, Tiffany for Men Sport, and of course Creed Millésime Impérial over this fragrance any day.
Ah... the joy of sampling and tossing the ones that do not work in the trash.
Everyone have a Magnificent Monday!
I had a Krizia day:
Morning - Spazio Krizia
Afternoo - Moods by Krizia
I had a fabulous day at the beach - Annick Goutal Eau de Sud for the day and now showered and cleaned up at home working on the computer - L'Artisan Tea for Two.
I'm a colognosaurus. Rawr!
Today's SOTD has been my first test of Serge Lutens Chypre Rouge.
As a child in the late 70's/early 80's, I grew up on Kool-Aid. I'll always remember the smell of pouring the little packet of unsweetened artificial fruit-flavored powder into the pitcher. The top of Chypre Rouge is dead-on cherry kool-aid powder. There's some woods and herbal weirdness going on, but the cherry kool-aid is unmistakable. The complex base eventually settles to leather, with the kool-aid remaining over the top. Don't get me wrong - this smells really good, but my olfactory memories keeping me from truly embracing this. There are other, similar Lutens with less artificial-smelling sweet fruity topnotes that I would pick over this one.

For me a work of fiction exists only insofar as it affords me what I shall bluntly call aesthetic bliss, that is a sense of being somehow, somewhere, connected with other states of being where art (curiosity, tenderness, kindness, ecstasy) is the norm. - Vladimir Nabokov
