If you can find it, Ezra Fitch.
Just wondering if anyone could recommend some juices that smell the closest to leather? Thanks.
If you can find it, Ezra Fitch.
Check out Francesco Smalto for a spicy, salty, slightly smoky leather. Fantastic stuff, and can readily be found on Ebay for cheap. For a boozy, fruity leather check out Nicole Miller PH which can also be found online for cheap.
i love smalto... i dont get the leather connection though. my nose is pretty green yet so maybe its just me. i love smalto though. smalto, you make me weak... remember the comercial?
This is a popular topic. I have been collecting leather fragrances for years. I think my personal favorite at the moment is Parfum D'Empire's Cuir Ottoman.

Are you looking for a pure leather smell? I know that there are probably several niche type frags like that. I haven't tried them, but maybe you are looking for something like Tuscan Leather or Spanish Leather? Anyway, if you don't mind some citus and leather combined, I'd highly recommend either Canali Men or Canali Summer Night.
Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford
Cuir Ottoman by Parfum d'Empire
Haven't worn Cuir myself, but I entrust the many opinions I see on it in here. I do wear Tuscan Leather and after a sort sweet berry opening, it's very close to pure leather.
For birch tar Knize Ten and Chanel's Cuir de Russie.
For others Cuir Ottoman, my favorite and to me the best of all, Esprit de Cuir by Auguste. I've just got to save for a bottle.
Try the new Cuir by Mona di Orio (launching at LuckyScent this week). It's pure straight up leather.
The strongest leather I've tried is The Knize Ten (for the first couple of hours). It has a raw and "meaty" quality.

I think, in the end, the only true leather for me would be Chanel Cuir de Russie Parfum. This year's limited edition (export) of Serge Lutens "Cuir Mauresque" is definitely worth checking out and I can't wait to try "Boxeuses", the new Paris/Europe exclusive in September.
I still have yet to smell:
Cuir by Lancome
Cuir de Russie by Chanel
Royal English Leather
Xerjoff XJ Homme
Helmut Lang Cuiron for suede-like leather. Bel Ami has a lovely leather drydown and of course Knize Ten for a leather with fruit up top and smoke down below.
Another vote for Cuir Ottoman. This is leather, but not a pure leather. It is a leather floral (iris and jasmine, I think.)
"There is no accessory greater, nor more intimate, than scent." --Tim Gunn
There really are so many good leathers out there ....+1 for the Xerjoff Homme.
I love Royal English Leather By Creed too .
For sale. Carnal Flower and Vero Profumo Onda.
Any specific type of leather? More real, more synthetic? More fruits? More tobacco? Usually a fragrance with leather in the name i.e. Tuscan Leather, English Leather will emphasize on the leather note. You can expect leather from beginning to end with both of these, but Tuscan Leather is a far more lush leather.
Others such as John Varvatos and Nicole Miller have more fruity openings with leather bases. Burberry The Beat and Baldessarini Ambre are not at all fruity; more oriental, with leather bases.
Royal English Leather for a buttery leather with a powder dry down
Epic for an elegant, green leather that mesmerizes me. It almost has a cooling absinthe vibe in the beginning but not exactly.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
+1 for Tuscan Leather.
I can't remember what it was that a SA at Saks let sniff, but I can remember that they were several bottles and had roman numeral on it. One of them, smelled just like the new leather on a brand new car. It was very linear but if leather is what you are looking for that would be it and I do think it was roman numeral X.
Love someone today and it will come back to you ten folds
Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford
Cuir de Russie Chanel
Balenciaga Portos (after you get past the Cognac opening)
Monsieur Blamain (basenotes again)
Leather, Jacket by CB I hate perfume
Russich leder by Farina
Guerlain Heritage (basenotes)
there are many others
Another vote for Cuir Ottoman. I'd also like to throw in a recommendation for Dzing! which is my other favorite leather, although it smells more like elephants and puppies than it does cowhide. Some, including I think Luca Turin, have said that is smells like cardboard. (I recall he said this in a rave review, BTW.) I see what he means, in a way. Maybe I could best describe it as what a cardboard box filled with puppies would smell like in a Technicolor movie. Dzing! always puts a smile on my face.
Another vote for the house favorite, Cuir Ottoman.
A slightly subtler and more traditional relative of Cuir Ottoman is Or Black.
A very different but also very realistic leather fragrance is Tuscan Leather. Unfortunately, it's ruined for me by a big, big raspberry note.
I have enjoyed at various times Oud Cuir d'Arabie, Cuir d'Iris, Knize Ten, Cuir de Russie ( Chanel's, though Creeds was decent, just not leathery to my nose ), and Cuir Pleine Fleur.
