Question Before I buy : Have I already got that same smell?!

    Hi all,

I have been buying a few frags from the many reviews on the website over the past few years, and thanks to all who have been dilligent and informative! Much appreciated!

I like having a variety of different smells at my disposal, so I don't want to "double up" on anything that is similar.

I am thinking of buying two new budget frags to add to my collection : Davidoff Silver Shadow Altitude, and Escada Magnetism.

Can anyone help me out and tell me whether these are similar to ones in my collection below? :

    Givenchy Very Irresistable
    Rive Gauche pour Homme
    Perris Ellis 360 Red
    YSL M7 Fresh
    L'eau d'Issey pour Homme
    Bvlgari pour Homme Extrême
    Paul Smith Extreme for Men
    Ralph Lauren Polo Black
    Boss Bottled
    cK One Scene
    B*MEN by Thierry Mugler
    Davidoff Adventure Amazonia
    Davidoff Cool Water Summer Fizz

    Lots of thanks!!

I'm looking out for other good unique and different reccomendations as well if you'd like to shout out!

I've got Altitude and i don't think its similar to anything you have. However, please note that i've not tried 360 Red and M7 Fresh before. Altitude is a good frag and quite underrated here on BN. Its one of my favourites. I haven't tried Magnetism before.

edit: pls let us know your frag preferences so we can offer recommendations.

Thanks for that Jonny4, that's a good help. Both are pretty cheap so it wouldn't hurt to try them out anyway.

Oh yeah, and sorry I wasn't clear on my preferences - I don't really have a preference other than I am not really into old/classic spicy 60's smells ... I'm not too fond of my Rive Gauche to be honest, as it reminds me a lot of the pre 90's Brut aftershave. I'm looking for unique modern smells ... I'm fond of my Givenchy Very Irresistable, M7 Fresh and Blvgari Pour Homme Extreme.

Try Prada Pour Homme, Prada Infusion d'Homme, Kenzo Power and Solo Loewe. None are overly masculine and rather modern smelling to me.

Escada Magnetism is too good! Fully recommended regardless of what you have. It's THAT unique.

Yes, Escada Magnetism is quite unique with the coke smell.

Magnetism is interesting, however Silver Shadow is a bit average - it doesn't 'stick out.' As for unique modern smells, my current favorites are Kenzo Power, Allure Homme Edition Blanche (make sure you try it if you like lemons!) and Terre d'Hermes. Have you tried any strongly 'woody' fragrances as well? eg Gucci pour Homme (the square bottle with dark-brown juice)
Looking for: Andy Tauer - L'air du Desert Morocain & Incense Extreme

Thanks for the feedback Zliang and Anthony87! I've looked into Terre d'Hermes and I'm not a huge fan - to me it smells too tart and alcoholic. Gucci pour Homme is a good one, I agree and I do like it - but it's a bit out of my price range at the moment.

I'll have to test out Kenzo Power, sounds interesting from the reviews.

As for lemony smells and Allure Homme Edition Blanche (again, probably out of my price range), I'm guessing it will be great for summer but I don't want to smell like lemon peel all day! I do like lemon, and I have the Davidoff Cool Water Summer Fizz which has a synthetic 'lemon peel' note which dies down in intensity quite quickly. To be honest, it's pretty average - the lingering smell isn't exciting.

    Thanks for your tips!
