Default Scent Synchronization Day Autumn/Spring 2009!

    Hi everyone!

Last year we had a Scent Synchronization Day to celebrate the arrival of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere. So I am proposing we do it again this year.

The premise is for us as a group (men and women) to decide on one fragrance that we will all wear on a particular day. We should be aiming to pick a fragrance that most of us already own or can easily obtain a sample of – so no niche please. Once we pick the fragrance, we all wear it on that day and post our thoughts about the fragrance. I am proposing that day to be Tuesday, September 22, 2009.

What I would like to do in this thread is for people to start naming a fragrance(s) that they think we be a good candidate for us to wear. I will then post a poll next week with the top vote getters. We will then vote on the poll and the winner will be selected. The poll will close well ahead of the SSD so people can obtain a sample if they need to.

BTW – Last year’s fragrance was Burberry London for Men, so we should try to choose something different this year.

I will kick off the suggestions with Guerlain Vetiver.

L'Anarchiste! I think that one would work quite well ... not sure about the availability of samples or testers though. Bottles are cheap enough though.

I'll suggest Burberry London. It's a solid scent that is not very expensive and easy to find...

If that weren't last year's choice, it surely would have been mine.

Azzaro Pour Homme? Easy to find and owned by many.

    Dior Homme? Same deal.

Guess I should read the whole thread, huh??

In that case, I'll nominate Rive Gauche PH... It's an even better scent that's cheaper while still being easy to find...

    -Fall 2005: Creed GIT
    -Fall 2004: Guerlain Vetiver

Well, whatever it's going to be, I want in!

Bulgari Black would have been great, but it's already been done.

I sheepishly suggest Terre d'Hermès. I know a lot of people are less than thrilled with that one, but it is popular, overall. Polo Modern Reserve might be a good fall scent, with enough homage to old school for people who like classics, but fresh enough for people who like modern stuff.

What about Chanel? Any suggestions there? I tend to think that Édition Blanche is a bit too cool, but it is popular, and worth sniffing for those who haven't. Or maybe one of their older classics.

I would go for L'Homme, or the new flanker La Nuit de L'Homme.

Guerlain Homme? Seems more spring than fall to me, but maybe we should give this one to the boys and girls down under.

    Lots of possibilities....

Ya'll pick it. That will give me the excuse to get it if I don't have it, and what with my very small collection I should be in good shape.

+1 more sheepish suggestion for TdH here. I'd also like to put forth Equipage as an option.

    Fall 2004 was YSL M7, I believe.

I'd like to see YSL Rive Gauche, Narciso Rodriguez For Him & Tom Ford Black Orchid.

I hope I get my TdH in the mail if that's the scent we go with.

can I just chime in and suggest Obsession for men?

I bought a bottle a while back, and find myself just spraying it on my wrist, or on my pillow and now today on a wall post, I'm literally afraid to put it on, and this might be the perfect "excuse" to go with a full wearing.

Great idea Joe. I nomimate Habit Rouge - in any of its numerous formulations: EdC, EdT, EdP, Light, Parfum, Sport or After Shave.

Oh G-d, please don't make us wear a Chanel!

Oh, all right, I'll do it if everyone insists.

Even if it's Heir by Paris Hilton?

I'd second Equipage or Habit Rouge as going well with football weather.

I'd also be very happy with Equipage or Rive Gauche, but I think more of us will have an easier time with Gucci.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind Gucci PH by any means. I have a lovely bottle sitting in my armoire and haven't even got to give it a wearing yet - waiting for the humidity to drop a bit.
