(((Twolf and her hand)))!!!! Are you able to see a hand doc? Not being able to sew when one is as talented as you are is simply NOT FAIR.

Today I continue testing from my BNer surprise package: Parfum d'Empire Wazamba. I've been wanting to try this one for quite awhile, and it's a very nicely done incense, with an unusual (for incense frags, in my opinion) apple note that keeps it from being "just another good incense scent." It's evolving nicely, opening like it's being warmed by the sun rather than 'just' by my skin. The pine notes are staying cool in the background, too. How do they DO that? Nice!

Wazamba Notes: Somalian incense, Kenyan myrrh, Ethiopian opoponax, Indian sandalwood, Moroccan cypress, labdanum, apple, fir balsam.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

CD- SO...is it FBW ? the Wazamba ?
    [ It's such fun to say, "Wazamba" ! ]

Liz' Moroccan Orange proved to be very therapeutic yesterday- such a liquid joy sort of scent.

    Today is the re-mastered Futur.
Well worth the dosh, I believe it may be Piguet's finest re-edit yet.
    Strong words, truly meant.

This stuff is exquisitely verdantly floral without cloying; the suave handbag drydown is a pleasure.
As close to vintage as the IFRA may allow ;-)

I think Thymes Fig Leaf & Cassis is my happiest 'fume, and I'm relying on it today. Tang

You know the expression "death by a thousand cuts"? I shouldn't kvetch at all, cuz life is good, but a string of tiny irritations makes me want to swing a bat and hit something. Was going to attack the day today with a fierce attitude after figuring out I had to order some software yesterday that should resolve my nerve-racking slide-show-to-DVD technical problems. This morning the TV went fritzy (again) , and the power company had to be contacted about their error in our online billing records. Got that cleared up and "nature called." Went to flush, and the chain came apart in the tank. Fine! Fine! I huffed as I fetched the pliers and made the repair. So, nothing, nothing is really, really wrong, but that doesn't mean I still can't go a little crazy. Thanks for listening. That helped. Now going to try attacking the day ... again!

I was so unbearably crabby yesterday...I am determined to be a more useful member of society today! The weather is at least cooperating, yesterday was overcast and muggy and 80 degrees, BLECH. Today it's dry and clear and a crisp 65, just what this New England girl needs to be happy!

Bois Des Iles for me today...and, I'm quite surprised to be picking up some more animalic notes today...I actually went back to make sure I hadn't grabbed the Cuir de Russie reformulation by accident. In the warmer weather, BdI only gave me powder and flowers, but today I'm definitely feeling the woods and musk notes. Lovely!

Thanks for the thoughts Sunnyfunny, but i did not end up going into Boston. My friend bailed out at the last minute, thank goodness i did not already hop on the train, so we will meet next week. Friend needs more than a hug, friend needs to focus on living and not on men. I never understood that, for me i always lived by my belief that men were like buses..."If one goes by, another will be along in around 5 minutes." It has proven very true for me, wish she could see that also.

So for my sotd, instead of the new Serge, i am wearing the new Guerlain- Idylle, thanks to a sweetheart who is so super kind. I absolutely love this! It is so un-Guerlain like, but it is wonderful on its own merit as a great scent. It is interesting, it is sweet, it has a unique quality to it, it definitely receives a huge thumbs up.

Hope everyone will enjoy the day

What's this? Brielle resoundingly giving a thumbs up to a modern Guerlain?
Run for your lives its a sign of the Apocalypse.!

It was a crazy morning full of crazy busy-ness and so I arrive here later than normal.
Twolf our aches and pains are not emblematic of punishment but of a life lived and full of doing things.
Unfotunately the more we do the quicker we wear out.
I smile over every ache I have because it came from doing something I love to do. You just have to let medical science get you fixed up and back in the game
Until then get lost in the 3X3.

For this day of busy chores I was in a floral mood and went for the big guns.

    Frederic Malle Carnal Flower

Most of the fragrances I wear I get them on the first wear and subsequent wears rarely expose something I miseed on the first sniff. There are far fewer fragrances that are much different depending on the temperature and yet are rewarding in both warm and cold. Then there are the rare gems which are ever changing kaleidoscopes of notes which seem to reveal different beautifully complex combinations as if by whim. I think no matter how many times I wear them I'll never figure them out completely. One of these gems is the 2005 release for Frederic Malle Editions de Parfum, Carnal Flower. Dominique Ropion has created an incredible tuberose centered scent that is easily worn by a man and will reward those wearings with one of the most beautifully textured scents you could wear. If you take a look at the note list for Carnal Flower it can be a little off-putting. If you think that a scent with things like melon, coconut and eucalyptus has to be an unblanced bit of craziness, no one could blame you. If it keeps you from trying this, that is too bad. From the top a little bergamot starts things off traditionally and it is quickly joined by the tuberose core of Carnal Flower. The description on the box boasts that Carnal Flower has the highest concentration of tuberose absolute of any fragrance and the intensity of the tuberose throughout the develpopment definitely shows this to be true. As the tuberose begins to come to the fore the first surprise is that note of eucalyptus as the camphor-like nature of that plays elegantly against the sweet floral nature of the tuberose. This beginning has felt different on me every time I wear this. Sometimes the eucalyptus seems like an equal partner and other times it seems like it is a grace note. As this moves into the heart the other problematic notes come into play as the melon and coconut show up but they are kept in check thorughout and are used as complemetary notes. Here the sweetness of both the coconut and the melon enhance instead of detract; as they do for me in so many other scents they are used in. The base is a mix of white musk and tuberose and the musk proves to be a perfect light partner. For something with this much tuberose in it it never rises to the level of seeming to be too-much on me. It stays at an appropriate level for a shared fragrance. Carnal Flower has excellent longevity and excellent sillage. Carnal Flower is just one of the best scents I own.

    Have a Floral Friday everyone.

I enjoyed my Bois des Iles for as long as it lasted, but I needed something with a little more OOMPH this afternoon...I've spent the day being Martha-esque, making two gallons of homemade meat sauce (yum) and doing lots of laundry (yuck). I wanted a more assertive floral open, with a good tang of freshness, and yet I also wanted a little musk/leather/naughty girl drydown...What to choose? Fracas? Floral, yes, but the drydown wasn't naughty enough. Vent Vert? Fresh, green, great on this crisp day...but something is lacking for this evening's mood. Cuir de Russie? Got my bad girl, for sure, but not enough sweetness to open. Then, I knew.

    31 Rue Cambon it is!

I love it when I am hunting for that perfect scent to fit a mood and then I actually find it! This is just what I needed!

NOW YOU LISTEN TO YOUR MOMMY....pain is NOT a requirement and Advil used as prescribed is effective and harmless. Don't make me come over there to make sure you are doing what you were told.

It's still summer here (Fall usually arrives in November) so for high 80's temps I was off to the ...

I'm wearing Eau des Merveilles today. It's making me daydream of a secret beach in spite of the cool rainy weather here.

Sending healing thoughts to all ... happy Friday.

I know, who would have ever thought. I guess it was just taking Guerlain off of the alter i had created for them when i was younger and just looking at the newest creation without thinking of it as a "Guerlain".

You are correct Mystic lovey, i did smell nice. It really was a treat, so pleased i had the chance to try it out.

Tonight i am wearing Lapis Lazuli by Galimard, i absolutely love their scents. Never a letdown and soooo reasonably priced

If anyone is in, or going to Grasse, please let me know, i need something from Galimard.

Love and hugs to all of my precious darlings, have a peaceful night.

This must be a record for me, 3 scents in one day. This evening, C&E Evelyn.

SotD: Armani Prive Jasmin Eclat. It's just too much vetiver for me, even from the beginning. I think I may have to sell it.

SotE: Yosh Stargazer. It starts out pretty but a bit cloying. It'll be interesting to see where it goes.
For sale: JL Scherrer parfum (reduced price) and more!
