Default Amouage Bottle Design: Old vs New

Just a random/fun poll to see if people prefer the more flamboyant, and considered by some to be gaudy, old style bottles, or the newer more conservative, and some think more elegant or refined, bottles.

Please choose two options while voting - one for the men's category and one for the women's.

Here are some pictures of the bottles

i'm including one more of the newer women's bottles to show that they aren't all opaque and metallic like the above two.

I feel like the old ones look more authentic and middle eastern than the new ones - they represent the fragrances a little better. Even the new ones are gorgeous though... well not the newer women's ones actually.

I agree with the sentiment that the old bottles look more authentic and middle eastern L'Aventurier, although I find the old men's bottles a bit too over the top and gaudy. They seem to scream "nouveau rich" rather than the refined quality that I think their scents actually posess, so I don't think the older (men's at least) bottles better represent the fragrances.

I don't find the old style women's bottles so garish, and actually prefer them to the newer style, whose caps and rather short and squat bottles are a bit ugly, imo. The old style women's would be perfect if they had the word "Amouage" engraved or imprinted into the upper metal rim of the bottle.

Oh snap! Did I have to select both my votes at the same time? Ooops.

I've always been fascinated by Amouage bottles since I first saw them. I've never seen the female bottles and the old ones look quite elegant wow! Interesting poll.

I prefer the older style bottles for men's perfumes.
They look more masculine, authentic and are reflective of the middle eastern character.
I also love the heavy weight (due to crystal) of the those old bottles.
The newer style bottles for men are not 'rich' enough for the Amouage label.

I would've liked the older bottles for women's version too but because of their unusual shape they are prone to breakage during transit, I would like the newer bottles.
Though I must admit, I haven't seen the the newer women bottles, they look nice to me in the pics.

I had bought a brand new sealed bottle of Amouage Gold for women and when it arrived it still had cellophane on it but when I opened it, it was all cracked up and empty.

My collection only (only, heh) has the new men's so I like that better, cleaner looking. (edit, agree with gupts they don't look rich enough)
I prefer the older style womans bottles by a lot over the newer.

The newer bottles look much better in pictures you posted than they really are. The bottles themselves are fine. The plastic caps with an eye doesn't loo as elegant as a metallic dagger.

I was late to the party so it's been new for me. The Lyric & Epic Women's are both nice variations on a theme. If I came across the older ones I might pick one up if the design and what's inside both made sense - they seem quite exotic. I like the simplicity and clean design of the current Men's altho the 50 ml seems to have nicer proportions.

I find the new bottle designs quite pleasing. Amouage's move to universal design still references their Arabic roots. I think the new women's bottles are a bit bulky and squat and perhaps would have suited the men's range better, but they have a nice, slightly art nouveau quality with their sand dollar/dome-like caps. The cleaned up men's spray caps still reference jambiya handles, which is a nice cultural reference. I don't miss the glass filigree, I like my bottles smooth to the touch. The gold plated sides are a nice detail.
For me the most successful aspect is the use of deep jewel tone colors on some of the releases. The deep emerald green of the new Epic reflects the range's dark, resinous qualities quite well as the ruby red of Lyric tells of the deep rose note inside.
The boxes are quite nice too and the little, hand signed inspection note is a nice touch.

I usually don't care much about bottles but the old dagger bottles are fantasticly opulent over the top kitsch which suits the old formulation perfumes perfectly.

Another vote for the old ones, especially the masculine ones, while they may look a little bit more gaudy, heavy and showy, I think that they are capable to reflect a slight bit better everything the house of Amouage stands for.

I voted for the old ones for both mens' and womens' perfumes.

The new bottles are boring, and look they they could have come from any other house. Sigh...I guess distinction is not marketable these days.

I prefer the new style for men's though I'd collect the old too. But not the new styles for women. They look kinda short & squat.

I also prefer the old versions of both the men's and the women's bottles.

I think the new men's ones look terribly cheap (and look even worse in real life !) ... I especially dislike the new spray heads, even though just a slight variation, somehow look odd now. They also look like they are gilded plastic rather than metal. ... The old ones at least looked authentic, whereas these new ones just look kinda common.

I also think that the new women's ones would almost make better men's bottles. I prefer them to the men's ones.

And oddly enough I think the opposite, I actually think the new bottles look much more "nouveau riche" than the old ones.

Random question: Does anyone know what the design is on the cap of the old men's bottles? It looks like an artistic interpretation of the female reproductive system.

I prefer the new mens and older womens.

My bottle of Gold has the white(ish) plastic cap. Anyone know if there was a reformulation between these 2 versions? IIRC I got it for half price from my local perfumery (now sadly closed, what a goldmine that place was). He did say that there was just a change to the bottle. Can anyone confirm?

Not paranoid or bothered, just curious. Gold cap looks so much better IMO.
