Default Provide search for exact phrase

Currently one cannot search for an exact phrase (e.g., "best Montale").

    This would be helpful.

It could also help minimize duplicate threads.

+1 Great idea! I keep assuming all the search features of Google apply here as well.

Thirding this request. Would make it sooo much more convenient searching for stuff.

I, too, like searching by exact phrase. However, I cannot see how it would eliminate duplicate threads.

    I'm pretty sure it does...

on the search box type in "Best Montale" with the open quotes and you get about 6 results.
key in Best Montale without the open quotes and you get tons of pages.
    or... Am I missing something?

When I tried to search for "Best Montale" (in quotes), I got a "no results" message. When I tried Best Montale without quotes, I received lots of results. I don't think the search mechanism likes quotes.

Ah... I see what's going on. I never use the search box at the top, honestly. Perhaps I should start.

Ah HA!!! So the box on top allows quotes/exact phrases, but the advanced search box under "forum search" does not. Thank you, Docman.

Fortunately, most of the results from a general search (the top box) are from the forum anyway.

    This has been very instructive!
