Geir is a bit like Himalaya but is stronger, longer lasting and more synthetic.
Himalaya is crisper, lighter and more natural smelling.
Himalaya is really unlike any other fragrance I have tried including Paco XS.

I still own Himalaya, bought XS, wore both fully and experienced the similarity.

Ok. I have Geir in my collection, and think it`s a ok fragrance. Especially in summer. I don`t reach for it very often, but sometimes i find it very wearable (fantastic staying power!). When i`m hunting new fragrances, i`m always looking for something different than what i already got in my collection, so i don`t think Himalaya is something i will check out. Thanks for the comparision!

For those seeking a Himalaya deo for cheap:

try Degree Arctic Edge (with silver ion technology)

Its not an exact Himalaya replica, but the scent does do a decent job at capturing that cool peppery Himalaya accord.

Definitely XS Pour Homme. Have both, and the similarities are startling!

I've got XS, but never tried Himalaya. What's the noticeable difference between the two?

^IMO, XS has a mintier, earthier feel. Himalaya's dry down has the notable ambergris and musk that XS lacks. Both are great IMO.

Question Re: Similar (design)scent to Creed Himalaya?

I sampled Paco XS and I will post my notes from my MS Outlook fragrance database below:

Paco Rabanne - XS (Similar to Platinum Egoiste!) (Horribly Cheap and Synthetic!) (NBW!)

NBW! is an acronym for Not Bottle Worthy! I do not care for Paco XS in the least.

Creed Himalaya opens with a beautiful fresh peppery opening that I only wish had sufficient longevity and projection then I would certainly acquire it. It really opens beautifully!

Unfortunately, it then completely evaporates from my skin so that I cannot smell it at all 15 minutes after application.

Sorry, others may be aware of suitable substitutes for Himalaya, however, I am not.

^ that is not possible, unless you skin ten times more dry than the desert.

    Genvy:

Maybe my skin is dry. I would certainly acquire the beautiful Himalaya if I could only get decent longevity and projection from it.

Didn't mean to come off harsh, I just can't stand claims that scents disappear in under an hour.

ok. I`ve tried hard over several years to like Platinum, but i`ve gave it up! Don`t like the dry down, and i can`t stand that metallic note! Nothing like the real masterpiece Egoiste. It`s almost a shame CHANEL use the Egoist logo on this one..

Projection is certainly not one of Himalaya's strong suits. Average longevity on my skin.

IMO, its the quality ambergris drydown that distinguishes Himalaya from Paco XS.
