    well...?

I started using Habit Rouge several months ago and I can't get enough of it. Definitely a must try.

    Vetiver is also really good.

The shorter list is which to not recommend!

    Let's see.... start with:
    Jicky
    Mouchoir
    Apres L'Ondee
    Nahema
    Parure
    Samsara
    Derby
    Shalimar
    Sous le Vent
    Liu
    Vega
    Vetiver Pour Elle
    Plus Que Jamais
    SDV
    Bois d'Armenie
    Oriental Brulent
    Chant d'Aromes
    Terracotta Voile d'Ete
    Philtre d'Amour

I could go on for a while. Don't think there are no Guerlains I don't recommend because there are plenty of those as well....

    Heritage! My favorite masculine Guerlain.

My list would include (in no particular order):

    Habit Rouge
    Vetiver
    JIcky
    L'Instant PH
    Apres l'Ondee
    L'Heure Bleue
    Vol de Nuit

Many of the other classics (e.g. Sous le Vent) I haven't tried, so their absence from this list doesn't mean much. Mitsouko was both my grandmother's and my mother's signature scent, so my associations with it make it difficult for me to recommend to others, but it's truly magical and you should probably try it....especially if you want to smell like my grandma ;-)

Some time ago on a different and unrelated forum a gentleman remarked that some scent I liked smelled just like most of "those department store colognes". While I think he was wrong in that instance, I do think that many of the fragrances smell like and are not unique. However, the few Guerlains I have smelled are unique, quality and not like other fragrances. Those few include Heritage, Habit Rouge, L'Instance and Shalimar (my wife's). In fact, thinking about fragrances after a trip to test some at a department store, I thought any Guerlain I would get would be unique and wonderful! Best of luck, John

    My favs are:
    Heritage (both EDT and EDP)
    Philtre D'Amour
    Mitsouko (I have vintage EDT)
L'Heure Bleue (I have the EDP)
Vol De Nuit (I don't own it but I've sampled both current EDT and Parfum, and I like both)

Lol... just ran out of time. I have all four concentrations of Habit Rouge.

    To continue....

    Mitsouko
    L'Heure Bleu
    Vol de Nuit
    Vol de Nuit Evasion
    Attrape Coeur
    Chamade
    Insolence EdP
    Quand Vient la Pluie
    Atuana
    Djedi
    Aqua Allegoria Winter Delice
    AA Rosa Magnifica
    AA Lavande Velours
    Cruel Gardenia
    Chypre Fatale

Ok I gotta run... I'll work on this list more later.

JP Guerlain's late masterpiece Plus que Jamais can still be found at some Guerlain boutiques. It's rare to have access to a grand Guerlain in its unadaulterated version.
Derby, even in its reformulated incarnation is also quite good.

Did you buy a bottle as you said you wanted to a couple weeks ago? I agree it's a masterpiece. I hate to be cynical but I fear that it's one of those 'JP Guerlain in name only' late Guerlains such as Attrape Coeur. It took Guerlain a long time to admit that anyone but the family was creating their scents. Of course I may be wrong, but either way it's a beautiful fragrance.

    Jenson,
4,400 posts and you're just now asking for Guerlain recommendations??! SHAME!

I'm just a newborn compared to so many BN'ers on this subject, but I would humbly submit the following: HR EdP and EdC, Heritage EdP, Derby, and Sous Le Vent. I'm personally craving to get my hands on the highly lauded parfums that Vibert listed, especially Vol de Nuit. Would also like to sniff HR Extrait, but that probably ain't gonna happen any time soon...

Are you looking to purchase or just window shopping?

Guerlain is not a house, that I am super well versed in. BUT, that being said, I've tried a few, and three of them have managed to be on a short of list of the best fragrances I have ever smelled.

    Vetiver Pour Elle
    L'Instant pour Homme Eau Extreme
    Spirtiuese Double Vanille

I don't wear all of them, but I love having them around to smell. All are better (some significantly) in their original formulations, but they're all still excellent as it is:

    Derby
    Habit Rouge EDT
    Eau de Guerlain
    Coriolan
    Vetiver
    Misouko
    Sous le Vent
    Vol de Nuit
    Djedi
    Jicky
    Mouchoir de Monsieur
    Eau du Coq
    Attrape-Coeur
    L'Heure Bleue
    Shalimar
    Apres l'Ondee
    and a few other feminines......

Yes, I bought it for myself as one of my Birthday presents. Turin writes that it's a JP, it came out the same time as his original Aqua Allegoria
creations, so I'll believe he did it until I have word otherwise.

Congrats on your purchase.... if you're like me you'll start stressing that you need a backup now that it's discontinued. Not a cheap scent to backup. I assume Bergdorfs still had a few? PQJ is definitely genius enough to come from JP, though you can understand why I'm skeptical.

I agree, with 150 or so it should be fun. I like Vetiver Cologne but had trouble with Habit Rouge (can you say urinal cake).

My parents both have been wearing the classics for years when they would go out and leave me with the scary abysitter. I have to be careful I don't want any flashbacks...

I actually got it at Saks NY, they have a really super nice guy working in the Guerlain department. He was a real help. As I use my fragrances in heavy rotation, I think the bottle is going to last me a very long time, so I won't be getting a back-up bottle. I have tried so many of the post opening of 68 Champs Elysees celebration scents and this one's the first that smells like it isn't referencing L'Heure Blue or Apres l'Ondee. It smells modern, yet very old school in its construction. I think it's the Ylang Ylang - it always smells like something new every time I smell it.

    I can wholeheartedly second... all.

I don't think Cologne du 68 have been mentioned yet. It's a remarkable modern cologne with surprisingly many facets; in all probability it should be stuffy or messy, but it never is. Superbly blended.

    Window shopping eh .

4400 posts..hmm.. never too old to start something new, aint it

btw, i already have the following..
    Habit Rouge EDC 1976 version
Heritage EDT and EDP, both Vintage
    Mitsouko edt *Vintage*
    Vol de Nuit *Vintage*
    Shalimar edt current version
    Derby *Vintage*

i have had a bottle of Guerlain Vetiver before, i like it, but, it;s not for me. same with Habit Rouge EDT.. atleast as of now...i had let go of Lubins Le Vetiver for the verysame reason (i find theres a common link between these two fragrances.)

The only other guerlains i have sampled is the Samsara Parfum (which is just awesome) and Bois D'Armenie (a must have! irrespective of whether you are a guerlain freak or not!)

i just wanted to be prepared for blind buys, hence this post to weed out the weak.

A Big Hearted Thanks to everyone who contributed on this thread! i sincerely appreciate it!! looks like Mitsouko parfum is somethin that i can easily acquire as of now...L'Heure Blue & Apres l'Ondee still eludes me..i guess its time to hunt these down. also Sous le vent gets a lot of play here...
