Thanks Mike - I'd been wondering too - and it seemed the NYT weren't saying.
Cheers
I was wondering why Chandler Burr had not posted a fragrance review in the NYT The Moment Blog or anywhere, since July '08 when he reviewed La Nuit de L' Homme byYSL.
So, I emailed him.
This was his reply:
Hi, Mike.
I'm so sorry-- I've been getting these emails, and I should have written this-- I went on a hiatus in order to get several massive writing projects done, and it's taking twice as long as I had planned.
The blog column should be coming back when I stop drowning in stuff.
best,
Chandler

Thank you Mike. I have been wondering the same thing. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the link I have to his column.
I am having withdrawals, no Chandler and no more The Guide.

First Turin and now Burr...the industry is losing its media stars!

Good to know. I had worried a bit that it hadn't worked out. It would be a shame for the art of perfumery to lose this prestigious spot.
Probably because there's no money in being a star perfume reviewer. Don't think we're going to see the likes of the ol' Siskel & Ebert for perfumes anytime soon...
Q: How do you make a feminine fragrance masculine?
A: Add 'Pour Homme' to the bottle
- Pierre Bourdon
I couldn't shed a tear if I tried ! I have secretly seen men more qualified than him on that spot with NYT.
He certainly can write, and I wish he now uses his time well to come up with some serious backstage story from the industry, hopefully without becoming victim of another 'hero'; more facts than fiction would be nice! Also I wouldn't mind if he wrote about something completely different. (His attempts on the Gay Gene weren't so bad, after all.)
