Thanks for posting Quarry, thoroughly enjoyed the interviews, even the silly one
I loved this movie and recommend it.
(I wore Chanel no. 19 to the theatre)
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." I notice how Tatou mentions more than once that it was interesting to her how Chanel did not set out "calculating" to be a designer, that she wanted to be "somebody" , initially a singer or a stage star, but the designing element came out rather organically as she responded to life's difficult circumstances and her need and drive to survive.
I find this fascinating and authentic. Creativity is a messy business. Talk about trusting the process! But this woman, to me, was above all, a survivor. A certain ferocity and passion for life certainly comes through in Tatou's rendition of Chanel.
    Very invigorating.
