Default Three blind buys on their way - what to expect...

Dear fellow basenoters, I´ve order the following frags on Fragrancenet:

    Etro´s Vetiver
    Annick Goutal´s Encens Flamboyant
    Annick Goutal´s Ambre Fetiche

I deeply love woods, incense, amber and vetiver as fragrance notes...my all time fabs are: Cdg Avignon and Ouarzazate, Etro´s Messe de Minuit, Gaultier2, Cdg Sequoia, Hermes Vetiver Tonka and Ambre Narguilé, FM Vetiver extraordinaire, etc....What should I expect from this fragrances I order blindly??? Will they satisfy my need for new vetiver, amber and incense???

Based on your experiencies, what about longevity, sillage and overall inmpression???

    Thanx alot in advance, cheers!

    Pablo

Goutal's Incense is great. The amber is okay...but I'm not a huge amber fan. Both can be had for a decent discount on ebay, etc. Haven't tried the Etro.

Encens Flamboyant gave me a fantastic impression of frankincense and balsam fir, while Ambre Fetiche satisfied my need for Amber more than adequately. Both are great for me, and have above average longevity and sillage, on me. Have not tried the Etro...

I think the Etro Vetiver and AG Ambre Fetiche are fantastic! I was not too fond of AG Encens Flamboyant.

Ambre Fetiche is really unique and quite fantastic. I've never smelled anything else like it - I think you'll love it.

Encens Flamboyant has a depth and 'moistness' that I find quite comforting - it doesn't try too hard. It is not as austere as Avignon and certainly not as dry as the Armani Prive Encens. I think it's good buy if you enjoy this style.

Hmmmmmm. I was thinking of blind-buying Encens Flamboyant myself!

I've recently made a 180 on Ambre Fétiche. For a long time I thought the top notes were just too intense (and sometimes "weird", for lack of a better word) and I only felt comfortable with it after the first half hour. Luckily I persevered and it grew on me. I now enjoy it a great deal and find it nearly as satisfying as MPG Ambre Précieux (albeit with a very different vibe).

I also like Encens Flamboyant. Very cozy, with a nice light smokiness. The shower gel is great, btw.

Sadly I have never had the chance to try any Etro. Shame really.

Hope you'll enjoy your blind buys... Do report back.

    Thanks everybody for your replies!
I have high hopes for the three that I`ve ordered...but the one that intrigues me more is Etro`s Vetiver...there are lots of different revies...I dont know what to expect....if it will be a raw, dry, woddy longlasting vetiver or a fresh, tame, lightweight vetiver....

I will report back...fragrancenet orders take bout 13 days to Argetina!!!!

    I am waiting!

    Etro's vetver is really good.

The act of blind buying isn't.

I know I know....but I dont have other options....Argentina is the bottom of the world!!

And, my experience proved my right...I believe my "frag intuition" is perfect! as all that I bought unsniffed turned out to be wonderful.

I recently received some AG samples including Ambre Fetiche and Encens Flamboyant. The amber I love. The opening notes have a distinct herbal quality and a subtle sweetness that evokes Ambre Precieux with a dash of Cinzano (in a good way!) but the dry down is to die for: a deep, rich and spicy amber with a distinct tar note that is quite reminiscent of Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain. Powerful stuff in terms of sillage and longevity.

The incense is also very nice, but as a non-fan of incense I can't give it the same thumbs up as I gave the amber. But it's probably the only incense frag that I can wear.

My pick of the bunch, however is AG's Musc Nomade. This stuff is just gorgeous and it's shot to the top few rungs of my favourites. I'm away working in a far-flung country town in NSW, Australia (Mudgee, for my fellow Oz basenoters, so you know my pain!) and I brought my generous sample of Musc Nomade with me. I can't bear to be parted from it. I left the Creeds at home, so that says it all!

The Etro I can't comment on.

If you love amber and incense, I think your naughty blind buying might not be too dangerous

    I have them all.

Etro Vetiver is a bit smoky, good longevity with average sillage. I am not sure but I think at the moment I prefer this one over Guerlain Vetiver, Vetiiveru and Encre Noir.

Annick Goutal´s Encens Flamboyant -- haven't got a chance to try it on skin as it arrived damaged, all the juice was gone, soaked in those foam balls. My house smelled good for 2-3 days each time I came back in. The new bottle is on the way.

Annick Goutal´s Ambre Fetiche -- nice! I like it. It's a bit dark and sophisticated. The ambre is warm and resinious, but not sweet. Good longevity, sillage is average.
