Default Aramis Havana - Summer, winter, or anytime?

Based on reviews and talk here I ordered a sample from The Perfumed Court. I got it today and I must say I really like it. Being new at this I'm undecided/confused if it would be considered a seasonal wear or a year round fragrance. Sometimes a whiff makes me think it's more for summer, then other times I think it could go year round, What are your thoughts?

For me, anytime! Day or night. Do note that I am from the tropics and we don't have seasonal weathers. It is mostly hot and humid, and Havana works perfectly in these conditions for me, as well as in the office.

I have a preference for using fragrances containing Bay Rum in warmer weather, but I see no reason why you cannot use Havana in any weather or circumstance. Like most fragrances, its a question of trial and error.

I have always thought that Havana was a winter cologne.
The tobacco in it can make it quite cloying in the summer, isn't it?

I don't know about cloying, but I certainly go easy on the application, especially in the summer when everything gets naturally ramped up. I think it's got more character in the summer, if that makes sense, it opens up more and you experience more of those 22 notes. It's fine as well in the winter, and I honestly don't think there's a wrong answer. Try it both ways and see which you prefer, or if you have a preference at all.

    Anytime.

Just apply lightly in warm weather.

I always relate Havana to pre-Castro Cuba. Decadent casinos, cigars, Mafia, rum drinks, hot Latin women....and warm tropical weather.

Funny that this topic came up...

Before the Gentleman's Collection launched, I had always thought of my vintage Havana & Havana Reserva as cooler weather scents. I know a lot of board members disagreed with me, but I just couldn't enjoy it in the hot & humid NYC summers...

Now that I purchased a bottle of the new juice, I might have to reconsider my stance on this matter. I think the new juice is light enough to be worn at anytime. Now bear in mind that when I say lighter, I don't think the juice is diminished in any way. Mainly I just attribute the difference to brand new juice vs juice that could be five or ten years old. It's still the same quality fragrance, but I feel the juice is bit lighter.

There was a thread posted a few months back where a board member had feared that Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain had been reformulated because the color of the new juice was a lot lighter that the bottle that he had bought a few years before, and also because it didn't last as long as his older bottle. After much debate, the poster decided to e-mail Tauer about this, and Andy replied back basically saying (I'm paraphrasing) that as the juice ages it matures and gets better as long as it's stored properly. So in a nutshell, vintage Havana has matured, while the new juice hasn't...

Thanks for the feedback. I thought maybe the name was influencing me but when the scent reminded me of something I would smell down Caribbean way I immediately think of a hot summer day or night. Then the next smell would lead me to believe it fits right in with a nice, cool autumn day such as the weather we're having now where I live.

Before Basenotes had the problem with its' server(s) a couple years ago, a BNer posted that Havana "ate the heat!" The first time I wore mine it was in July here in New Orleans and I must say he was right. I wear it in any weather but don't choose it often for some reason. Looking forward to testing the new re-issue.

Wear Havana it in the summer
Wear it winter spring or fall
Wear it fully clothed or naked
    Just don't over-spritz at all.
